It’s always a joy and a deep honor to return to this talented #HiveDIY community to share my latest creation, crafted with dedication and care. Hace unos días, mi mamá estaba muy ocupada con trabajo y una vecina necesitaba un gorro de chef para el cierre de proyecto escolar de su hija. Así que decidí ayudarla, para que ella pudiera continuar con lo que estaba haciendo y juntas terminar más rápido. Es muy sencillo de hacer; puede elaborarse con máquina de coser, pero quien no tenga una puede realizarlo igualmente con hilo y aguja. >A few days ago, my mom was overwhelmed with work, and a neighbor needed a chef's hat for her daughter's school project presentation. So I decided to help out, giving my mom space to continue what she was doing, and together we finished it more quickly. It’s very easy to make, you can use a sewing machine, but if you don’t have one, it can be sewn just as well by hand with needle and thread. ¡Vamos a empezar! >Let’s get started! 

Materiales:

• 1 metro de tela
• Cinta métrica
• Tijeras
• Lápiz para marcar la tela
• Regla
• Alfileres

Materials:

• 1 meter of fabric
• Measuring tape
• Scissors
• Fabric marking pencil
• Ruler
• Pins

 Dividimos el cuadrado de tela en cuatro partes: primero a la mitad y luego nuevamente. Desde el centro del cuadrado comenzamos a marcar 25 centímetros en forma de arco, creando un cuarto de círculo. >First, fold the square fabric into four parts: in half, and then once again. Starting from the center corner, mark an arc of 25 centimeters to shape a quarter circle.      Recortamos siguiendo las marcas realizadas. Al desdoblar la tela debe quedar un círculo de 50 centímetros de diámetro. >Cut along the marks you made. Once unfolded, the fabric should form a full circle with a 50-centimeter diameter.    Para la base del gorro, recortamos una tira cuyo largo sea la circunferencia de la cabeza más 12 centímetros, y un ancho estándar de 20 centímetros. >To create the base of the hat, cut a strip of fabric: the length should equal the head circumference plus 12 centimeters, and a standard height of 20 centimeters.   Doblamos el círculo en cuatro partes y hacemos marcas: la primera a 1,5 cm, y luego cada 3 cm. En cada marca realizamos cortes pequeños. >Fold the circle into four parts and make small marks: the first at 1.5 cm, then every 3 cm. Cut tiny slits at each mark.      Con los alfileres, unimos piquete con piquete formando pliegues en la misma dirección. En el último pliegue, hacemos un corte de 10 centímetros y cosemos un dobladillo en esa abertura. >Using the pins, match each slit to form pleats in the same direction. On the last pleat, make a 10-centimeter slit and sew a hem around the opening.      Fijamos los pliegues con una costura a 0.5 cm del borde de todo el contorno del círculo. >Secure the pleats with a stitch around the entire circle, 0.5 cm from the edge.  Luego, doblamos la tira de la base, hacemos dos costuras en cada extremo, y la volteamos al derecho para que quede presentable. >Next, fold the strip for the base, sew two seams on each side, and flip it right-side out to make it neat.  Cosemos la base a la parte superior del gorro. >Sew this base strip to the top part of the hat.   Finalmente, añadimos cierres mágicos en los extremos de la base, permitiendo ajustar el gorro al momento de usarlo. >Lastly, attach Velcro closures to the ends of the base, so the hat can be adjusted when worn.

 Así concluye esta creación. Me sorprendió el resultado, ya que no suelo hacer este tipo de cosas para otras personas. Generalmente, cuando me arriesgo a usar la máquina de coser es para hacerme algo a mí misma, y si queda imperfecto, no pasa nada porque me lo quedo sin problema. Pero en esta ocasión sentí que debía ayudar a mi mamá, quien estaba muy ocupada, y asumí el reto con toda la disposición. Afortunadamente, todo salió bien. Mi vecina necesitaba el gorro con urgencia para el cierre del proyecto escolar de su hija, que se entregaba al día siguiente, así que no había margen para errores ni retrasos. Fue una experiencia bonita, me permitió salir de mi rutina y poner en práctica habilidades que tenía algo olvidadas. Además, el agradecimiento de mi mamá y la alegría de la vecina hicieron que valiera totalmente el esfuerzo. Me gustó cómo quedó, y espero que a ustedes también les guste. Siempre es se siente bien crear con las manos y el corazón, y aún más cuando se hace por cariño y solidaridad. ¡Hasta la próxima! >This creation is now complete. I was genuinely surprised by the result, since I don’t usually make things for other people. Most of the time, when I take a chance with the sewing machine, it’s to make something for myself, and if it turns out imperfect, I’m fine with keeping it as it is. But this time I felt I had to help my mom, who was very busy, and I took on the challenge wholeheartedly. Fortunately, everything worked out. My neighbor urgently needed the hat for her daughter’s school project presentation, which was due the very next day, so there was no room for delays or mistakes. It was a beautiful experience, allowing me to step out of my routine and dust off skills I hadn’t used in a while. Plus, the gratitude from my mom and the joy on my neighbor’s face made all the effort completely worth it. I really liked how it turned out, and I hope you’ll enjoy it too. It always feels good to create with your hands and heart, even more so when it’s done out of love and solidarity. Until next time!
