Esta pequeña artesanía que hoy les traigo a su consideración, la he titulado: el velero de San Agustín . Y no porque en San Agustín haya puerto o mar. O ni tan siquiera laguna o arroyo para navegar, mas ella de unas cuantas lineas fluviales de aguas albañales recorriendo libremente algunas calles del renombrado reparto del.municipio La lisa, en la capit
l habanera.
Entonces por qué " el velero de San Agustin"?
Pues veamo., No es que tampoco San Agustin sea el nombre del capitan del barco,ni cosa que se parezca.
Lo cierto es que hace pocos dias ,de pura casualidad hice una travesía bastante apurada por la amplia calle 250, acortando camino para llegar a la autopista Habana,Pinar y al pasar cn paso apurado por debajo de un frondoso arbol que casi obstruye el paso por la acera que colinda con una escuela semi;interna del lugar, noté la presencia de unos frutos esparcidos en suelo humedecido por la reciente lluvia veraniega.
Seguí mi camino pero unos metros mas adelante desde adentro alguien me freno de repente. Y enseguida reconocí su artistica voz.
Era el artesano que me habita y algo había descubierto que le favorecía.
En efecto regrese al árbol y tome en mis manos dos o tres de aquellos frutos en diferentes estados( enteros, abiertos, verdes sun. Secos.etc) y algunas semillas negras parecidas a las famosas de " ojo de buey". esparcidas por el suelo .
Para mi aquel arbol es de la familia de la "salvadera. Planta muy respetada en el mundo de los cultos afrocubanos .
Alli mismo desperto una de las tantas ideas que aquel fruto con sus oscuras semillas me ha ido sugiriendo la idea de un barquito velero.
Para materializar esa idea utilice :
El fruto seco.
Pedacito de cartón corrugado .
Pegamento casero.
Varillas de pencas de coco.
Una tijera.
Lija.
Hilo de ensartar tabaco
El paso a paso fue muy sencillo. Pue tome una parte del fruto ya abierto y seco, lo limpie. Retirando residuos donde se alojan las semillas y con un pedacito de lija gruesa desbaste y puli los bordes asperos .
Con la punta de la tijera perfore un huequito en el
fondo de la cascara que pasará a ser el cuerpo del pequeño bote ,. Ahí coloco la varilla de coco que servira de mastil, no sin antes recortar con el cuten un pedacito de carton que sirve de base a todo el conjunto. Ensamble las partes con el pegamento casero a base de polietileno y gasolina.
Al mástil le aficioné una pequeña crucecita tambien varilla de coco y una pequeñita banderilla de papel blanco . Tambien adicione dos pedacitos de varillas a la proa y la popa para atar los finos hilos desde lo alto del masti simulando las sogas para la navegación.
Despues aplique color azul a la base simulando el mar y carmelita al mastil y el cuerpo de la diminuta embarcacion artesanal, con toques de amarillo.
Fue así de sencillo , y para mi lo mas importante fue descubrir en el l fruto de esta variedad de este árbol de Salvadera el simil a una pequeña embarcación marítima

Greetings to the whole community and especially to the administrators to whom I apologize because I know that I do not fully conform to the rules due to my lack of mastery of some technical issues.
This small craft that I bring you today for your consideration, I have titled it: the sailboat of San Agustín. And not because in San Agustín there is a port or sea. Or not even lagoon or creek to navigate, but it of a few fluvial lines of masonry waters freely crossing some streets of the renowned distribution of the municipality of La Lisa, in the Havana capital.
Then why "the sailboat of San Agustin"?
Well, let's see, it is not that San Agustin is the name of the captain of the ship, or anything like that.The truth is that a few days ago, by pure chance I made a rather hurried crossing along the wide street 250, shortening the way to get to the Havana-Pinar highway, and when I hurriedly passed under a leafy tree that almost obstructs the passage along the sidewalk that borders a semi-internal school of the place, I noticed the presence of some fruits scattered on the ground moistened by the recent summer rain.
I continued on my way but a few meters ahead from inside someone suddenly stopped me. I immediately recognized his artistic voice.
It was the artisan who inhabits me and I had discovered something that favored him.Indeed, I returned to the tree and took in my hands two or three of those fruits in different states (whole, open, green, sun, dry, etc.) and some black seeds similar to the famous "bull's eye" scattered on the ground.
For me that tree belongs to the "salvadera" family. It is a very respected plant in the world of Afro-Cuban cults.
There I woke up one of the many ideas that that fruit with its dark seeds has been suggesting me the idea of a little sailboat.
To materialize this idea use:
The nut.
Piece of corrugated cardboard.
Homemade glue.
Sticks of covo stalks.
A scissors.
Sandpaper.
Tobacco stringing thread.The step by step was very simple. Take a part of the fruit already open and dry, clean it. Removing residues where the seeds are lodged and with a piece of coarse sandpaper I roughed and polished the rough edges.
With the tip of the scissors I pierce a small hole in the
bottom of the shell that will become the body of the small pot. There I put the coconut rod that will serve as a mast, but not before cutting with the cutter a little piece of cardboard that serves as a base for the whole assembly. Assemble the parts with the homemade glue based on polyethylene and gasoline.To the mast I attached a small coconut rod and a small white paper pennant. I also added two small pieces of rods to the bow and the stern to tie the fine threads from the top of the mast simulating the ropes for navigation.
Then I applied blue to the base to simulate the sea and carmelite to the mast and the body of the tiny handmade boat, with touches of yellow.
It was that simple, and for me the most important thing was to discover in the fruit of this variety of this Salvadera tree the similarity to a small maritime vessel.Thanks for joining me
