Hello dear friends of Hive Diy, I hope you are all doing well. A few days ago I shared with you a portrait drawing of the legend Ozzy Osbourne, who passed away. For rockers, it's left a feeling of emptiness knowing everyone else is leaving and there's no one to take over, but I think differently. I've always loved rock, but that hasn't stopped me from enjoying the work and music that other people make. So with that in mind, I've made a portrait of the young singer Billie Eilish. I really like her style, and although I'm not very into current music, I admit that Billie Eilish and her talent are incredible. I made this portrait using Prismacolor Premier colored pencils. Hola queridos amigos de Hive Diy, espero que todos se encuentren muy bien. Hace algunos días compartí con ustedes un dibujo retrato de la leyenda Ozzy Osborune, quien partió de este mundo, en las personas que son puramente rockeras ha quedado un sabor de vacío al saber que todos se van y no hay relevo, pero yo pienso diferente. Siempre me ha gustado el rock pero eso no ha sido impedimento para disfrutar el trabajo y la música que hacen otras personas, así que con esto en mente he realizado un retrato de la joven cantante Billie Eilish, me gusta mucho su estilo, y aunque no estoy muy en la onda de la música actual, admito que Billie Eilish y su talento me parecen increíbles. He realizado este retrato utilizando lápices de color de la marca prismacolor Premier, espero que les guste. En el siguiente video podrán ver de manera resumida paso a paso como lo hice, comencemos!

I started by choosing a type of cardstock. I chose one called Canson. It's a coarse-grained cardstock that's also very useful for painting with acrylics or oils. I had Opalina cardstock, but it was white, so to make the portrait more realistic, I needed one with a colored background. This helps achieve a very realistic effect. After cutting, I made a sketch with all the parts of the face: hair, eyes, nose, and lips. For this step, I only used size 3H graphite pencils.
Comencé en primer lugar eligiendo que clase de cartulina, elegí una que se llama Canson, es una cartulina de grano grueso y que también es muy útil para pintar con acrílicos o con óleos. Tenía cartulina Opalina pero era de color blanco, así que para hacer mejor el retrato me convenía utilizar una que tuviera un color en el fondo, eso ayuda a lograr un efecto realista muy marcado. Luego de cortar fue haciendo un boceto con todas las partes del rostro, cabello, ojos, nariz y labios, para este paso solamente utilicé lápices de grafito número 3H.

Unlike other drawings, instead of covering the entire sketch in layers, I focused on only a few areas, so when I finished one, I moved on to another. I did this as a first layer because when using colors, the level of detail requires a bit more stroke and work, so it takes more time. This isn't the case with drawings on black cardboard, where the white color does all the work. So, for example, I start with some areas of the face, where there are no reflections, using very light pastel colors in the warm color range. I also begin painting one of the eyes. Remember, Billie Eilish has very beautiful eyes, which also require a lot of detail to respect the tone of her eyes.
Al contrario de otros dibujos, en lugar de cubrir todo el boceto por capas, me concentré solamente en algunas zonas, así cuando terminaba una pasaba a otra. Esto como una primera capa, lo hice así porque al utilizar colores el nivel de detalle requiere un poco más de trazo y trabajo por lo que lleva más tiempo. No así con los dibujos en cartulina negra, donde el colro blanco hace todo el trabajo, así que por ejemplo, comienzo con algunas zonas del rostro, donde no hay reflejos, ahí utilizo colores pasteles muy claro en la escala de los colores cálidos. También comienzo a pintar uno de los ojos, recordemos que Billie Eilish tiene unos ojos muy hermosos, los cuales también necesitan mucho detalle para respetar el tono de sus ojos.

After painting the aforementioned areas, I begin applying more color, only alternating between slightly darker tones so the skin tone effect can emerge. The same goes for the lips: a creamy base color, then terracotta and brown shades to add depth and contrast. Here you can see how the face has already taken shape; however, it remains to repeat the same process and polish the small details.
Luego de pintar las zonas mencionadas anteriormente comienzo aplicar más color, aquí solo alterno en tonos un poco más oscuros, así el efecto de la piel va haciendo su aparición. El mismo caso es para los labios, una base de un color crema y luego voy utiliando colores terracote y café para poder darle profundidad u contraste. Aquí puedne observar como el rostro ya ha tomado una forma, sin embargo queda repetir el mismo proceso e ir puliendo los pequeños detalles.

Now, let's move on to the hair. In this case, I use dark shades of brown, making quick, loose lines very quickly and without hesitation. After filling in that area thoroughly, I use a very soft brush to blend the lines to give the hair volume. I also paint some of her clothing, which has a greater amount of red around the neck.
Ahora vamos con el cabello, para este caso lo que hago es utilizar los tonos oscuros del café, y hago trazos rápidos, línea sueltas con mucha rápidez y sin ninguna duda. Luego de rellenar muy bien esa zona, con un pincel muy suave procedo a difuminar los trazos para darle volumen al cabello. También voy pintando parte de sus ropajes, los cuales tienen en una mayor cantidad el color rojo en la parte del cuello.

After almost completing the entire process, I blend with a brush. I use mineral oil on the hair to help the colors blend together and create a realistic contrast. Then, using a very fine brush and white paint, I bring out all the bright details on the face, such as her eyes and lips. Of course, I couldn't forget her hair, which at the time of the image had a contrast between white and gray, and in some very illuminated areas, it looked white. So, I gradually apply this effect to the hair, while also moving other aspects of the face.
Luego de tener todo el proceso casi completado lo que hago es difuminar y mezclar con un pincel. En el cabello utilizo aceite mineral para que los colores se fundan y el contraste se vea muy realista. Después con un pincel muy fino y pintura blanca voy sacando todos los detalles de brillo en el rostro, como en sus ojos y tambien sus labios, por supuesto no podía faltar su cabello, que para el momento de la imagen tenía un contraste entre blanco y gris, y en algunas partes muy iluminadas se veía blanco. Asi que voy haciendo poco a poco este efecto sobre el cabello, mientras voy corriendiendo ortso aspectos del rostro.
What did you think of the result? There's nothing better than colored pencils. Unlike paints, you need a lot of concentration for the details. Although this depends on the painter. Some people create wonderful works with any material, but I consider my skills to be better with colored pencils. I really liked the finish. In the end, I blurred the entire drawing and was able to achieve more vivid and deeper tones. Of course, I made the drawing while enjoying Billie Eilish's discography, so I recommend her. Qué les ha parecido el resultado? no hay nada mejor que los lápices de colores, al contrario de las pinturas, necesitas mucha concentración para los detalles, aunque esto depende del pintor, hay quienes hacen obras maravillosas con cualquier material, pero yo considero que mis habilidades son mejores con los lápices de color. Me gustó mucho el acabado, al final difumine todo el dibujo y así pude lograr tonos mas vivos y profundos, por supuesto hice el dibujo mientras disfrutaba de la discografía de Billie Eilish, así que la recomiendo, tiene canciones que son una genialidad, es una gran artista.
