Good day to all of our amazing creative minds in the community. It is usually fulfilling to stop by the community and see all of your creative projects and to see how everyone is putting in their best to teach us about new hacks and processes of doing things. I can say that DIY has been very helpful for all of us in saving us a lot of money that could have otherwise been used to purchase items from the market.

Being able to sew clothes for myself and the people around me has been very beneficial. A lot of people have been clothed by my skills who would have otherwise not have good clothes to wear. Just last week I did sew some school uniforms for my neighbor's daughter, and I was glad that she is now able to attend school for that reason.

It makes me proud each time she wears my handmade craft to school to study and pursue her dreams. That is an impact I have made in the life of that little girl.

From all of this, I have learned how important it is for everyone to learn some basic skills in sewing, cooking, gardening, and other DIY. They are very useful and handy. We can also teach our children the importance of this from their young age so that they do not get too dependent on items sold at the market.

I cannot remember when I last went to the market to purchase a dress for myself. Even though the ready-to-wear outfits sold at the market are sometimes more appealing to us, all we need is the right materials to embellish our outfit.

Rather than admire boutique dresses, I'd rather sew one for myself and get embroidery materials to creatively design it to my own taste.

Today I want to show you this design of a dress I made for myself. I was learning how to use a new pattern for sewing clothes, as there are different patterns for garment construction.

Having gotten a meter of fabric

I started by cutting the front block to form a bustier. I love sewing bustiers, as they are usually firm and fitted on our bodies.

Joined the front block above

Next I cut the back bodice of the dress.

I love sewing my clothes by first picking the darts.

Then fixing the zipper to the back block before using facing to turn it in, this gives it a very neat finish.

Next I joined all the other pieces skirt part

Then placed the front and back bodice together to adjust the armhole lines to avoid any bulging around the chest.

While sewing, I realized that a meter of fabric I bought was exhausted, and I didn't have more materials to sew the sleeves.

This became a concern until a fellow chorister called that she had an excess of her fabric remaining and that I could come for it.

I got the extra piece, but I could only cut a straight sleeve for myself. I had hoped to sew some elegant outfits for myself, but the shortage of fabric was a challenge.

I got a little extra piece, which I then cut a flare from, and saw if it could design my dress in a way.

We can always creatively use pearls or fabric to design our clothes based on what we have.

That the flair sewn around the neckline and my dress was pretty and ready for Sunday ministration.

Here is how to do a garment embellishment.

Get your pearls and the pearl setting machine, after sewing your clothes, you can pick the choice pearl color with it pins and creatively fix pearls at different locations on your dress.

Here is my wine dress designed with fabric on the chest line

And the purple dress I had embellished with pearl.

Our handmade outfits can be designed to meet with boutique standard and be really beautiful if we have the right resources and embroidery materials.
