Good day! I hope you are dry and safe wherever you are and the rally that happened today in the Philippines would really spark change. I rested the entire day today as I was so tired yesterday cooking dinner good for a week. Lol.
Anyway, I was supposed to attend a birthday party last month but most of my friends declined to go and one of my friends who confirmed that we'll push through backed out last minute. Yup, I was in a bad mood. Lol. Cancelling plans on the last minute is kind of disrespectful.
I'm not sure what to give a young little girl and I don't want to spend a lot as well. The mall I've went to only have limited choices so I ended up with just a coin purse and hair pin. These two items already costs around Php 200. I looked for a small paper bag and even for a small gift box but found none. Anyway, I saw this as an opportunity to DIY the box instead. Lucky that I still have some printed thick paper which I bought way back 2016.
1.) First, hold the paper vertically and fold the bottom of the paper according to the thickness of the coin purse.
2.) Then place the purse above the horizontal fold mark and fold each side of the paper (vertical) right to the edges of the purse.
3.) Next, fold on top of the purse where the zipper is.
4.) Then do another horizontal fold to the thickness of the purse. It's supposed to be the same measurement as step 1.
Here's a photo if you find my instruction vague.
Now cut the horizontal folds until the vertical fold. Now we go to assembling the box!
Prepare your double sided tape, glue, or simply a scotch tape.
Now start by folding the bottom and the sides. Put the flaps inside the box and tape it.
You'll supposed to have something like this. The corners already done!
You can also add some tape on the corners to keep the box look neat and sturdy.
Then bring up the next fold and tape the flaps inside.
And it's done! It's that easy!
This is my first time making a DIY box and I'm happy it ended up good despite not having a front flap for the top cover because the length of the paper is no longer enough to make another flap.
Place the purse, uhuh it fits perfectly, then cover.
Because it doesn't have a front flap, the front side won't close completely. Don't worry because you can just tape it to close and seal this corner.
Like this! Now it looks neat!
Lastly, wrap the box with a ribbon. And it's done!
You can tape a gift card or tie a gift tag on the ribbon. Just be careful not to press the box or hold it with so much pressure because the paper is not as thick as the cardboard.
Maybe I'll just keep this box until I'll have someone to give gifts again. I hope this helps someone out there especially those who have no other choice but to DIY a gift box. God bless!
