Dahlia Enchantment

Hello world!! This weekend I attended a Bachelorette party. Eight ladies sharing one house with a huge flower garden. There was also a lot of partying and fun. Today, though, I want to talk about the flowers more than anything else.

The main attraction of the garden at the moment are the huge stands of dahlia flowers. Yellows, purples, pinks, and crimson towered over us as we toured the garden and made bouquets to bring inside the house.

These moments brought me so much comfort. Hanging out with the flowers and veggies going to seed reminded me of who I really am despite being far away from home & the people I feel comfortable with. Don't get me wrong: the other ladies attending the party weekend were very nice. I am just one of those people who feels happiest when surrounded by flowers.

On our last day one of the girls and I went to go gather a few more bouquets. Lauren wanted to bring a couple home with her to give as gifts for the dog sitter and to preserve these memories by.

I made a bouquet to bring to my parents' house - the place where I will be spending the rest of my summer vacation.

A few of my favorites I also put into the flower press. I might use them for scrapbooking when they are flat & dried. Or maybe they could be framed somehow. We will see.

All this time spent with the dahlias got me wondering: what exactly do they symbolize? I searched online and there isn't consensus on what dahlias represent. So I will make up my own definition.

To me; dahlias symbolize feeling confident in your unique self. Like, not feeling less beautiful when surrounded by beautiful women. Not feeling shy when hanging out with an entirely new group of people. Dahlias come in so many vibrant colors & patterns ~ just as we do!
