Tomb Raider is an open-world third-person shooter action-adventure video game developed by Crystal Dynamics and published by the European branch of Square Enix. The game takes place on Yamatai, an island in the Dragon's Triangle, off the coast of Japan. The island and the kingdom that once existed are shrouded in mystery, due to the storms and sea currents that surround it. Yamatai was ruled by the Sun Queen, Himiko, who, according to legend, had mystical powers that allowed her to control the weather. Little is known about Yamatai's history since Himiko's death. Exploring the island, the player discovers many other cultures that came to the island, such as 16th-century Portuguese traders, members of the United States Marine Corps, and a Japanese military project during World War II. At the beginning of the game, the island is inhabited solely by the Solarii, a violent sect led by Father Mathias, created with the purpose of worshipping and bringing back the Sun Queen.

Tomb Raider es un videojuego de acción-aventura de disparos en tercera persona y de mundo abierto desarrollado por Crystal Dynamics y distribuido por la sucursal europea de Square Enix. El juego transcurre en Yamatai, una isla del Triángulo del Dragón, en la costa de Japón. La isla y el reino que una vez existieron es un misterio, debido a las tormentas y corrientes marítimas que la rodean. Yamatai fue gobernada por la Reina del Sol, llamada Himiko, quien, acorde a la leyenda, tenía poderes místicos que la permitían controlar el tiempo atmosférico. Se sabe poco acerca de la historia de Yamatai desde que Himiko murió.
