Old North garden – honesty still flowering
On Saturday morning I was up at 4AM after a vivid dream about my husband. I seldom remember dreams when waking but this one stayed with me long enough to write it down. I’ve had very few dreams of him and I don’t think I’ve remembered them long enough to write down.
I got my post up, got a load in the dishwasher and headed out to the gardens at 7AM. The goal was to finish finally all the rows we’d been working on.
In the walkways #2 and #3 the mulching was done so I just had to rake the hay out of them. It went over under the azalea. I had to finish the mulching on Rows 4 and 5 before I could rake the 4th walkway.
Before I could mulch row 5 I had to finish putting down the amendment. But about 10:30AM I had all the rows finished up to Row 6. I laid out the beds on Row 6 but was getting too tired to do any more. So I got my photos, notes, and then cleaned up.
A friend of mine with MCS (chemical sensitivity) has been trying to find new housing for 2 years. She’s disabled so not a lot of income and she has to move out of her house on September 1. I offered to take her house plants until she can find a place. She arrived about 8:30AM with huge house plants and this hanging basket.
Two of the plants were beautiful African violets. I so hope I don’t manage to kill them… There were 2 hanging plants that went in the dining room window. And then we moved plants and managed to fit in the 9 or more big house plants. I sure hope I can keep them alive….
I took this photo of the New Herb garden in the early morning sun from the northwest corner. The last 2 rows to be cleaned up and planted are here. There’s also 3 walkways to clean out.
I got a shower and some lunch and was in bed by 12:30PM. I slept until 3:30PM and felt a little better when I woke up. I’d decided to change my home page on my browser. I’ve made dozens of Home Pages for throughout the year.
Then I decided to change my desktop and I wanted to put an old poster from the Fair on it. So I did a search but couldn’t find old posters. So I used the poster for this year:
I kept searching for old posters and came across this site: Montague MA Historical Society and the first video listed was the Franklin County Fair documentary. It’s 41 minutes long and has a LOT of really cool old footage of the beginnings of the Fair. So I spent the rest of the afternoon watching that.
New West garden – at least you can see the marigold…
I made some supper and sat down to watch more Big Bang Theory until bedtime.
On Sunday I need to finish cleaning up the kitchen and then I have to mow the yard and at the barn. It’s been 2 weeks since I last mowed. Tom will be here to do the foliar feeding and he’s also going to change out the batteries in the smoke detectors.
I have the last classical concert of the season in the afternoon. It’s to be another beautiful day, cool and sunny.
