New Herb garden – volunteer black-eyed susans and calendula in the weeds
Monday morning I was in bad shape due to not sleeping from the poison ivy meds. I got my post up and tried to start laundry. Not much else was done by me except a trip to PT. There I only managed half of what I’d done the week before. I spent the rest of the day resting from that or napping.
But my general helper came out around 8AM with a friend of hers and they got a lot of garden work done before it got too hot.
First they finished mulching the pea area in the Big garden.
Then they pruned the forsythia back and up so I can mow under it without getting entangled.
They had started on deadheading the basil when I left for PT with the intention of harvesting it afterwards for pesto. But I think the heat caught up with them and they left the harvest for another day.
I’ve known for a long time the thermometer on the front porch is not very accurate. But the one on the north side of the house used to be. It’s been lately I’ve found it to be nearly as off as the other one. We called the porch one “the liar” but now they both are. It looks like it’s time for new thermometers.
The temp was really only mid 90’s and the humidity around 70%.
I didn’t get to bed until around 9:30PM and couldn’t sleep, so I won’t be going outside on Tuesday morning early. I’m hoping to get laundry done and maybe pay bills before my helper friend arrives. He has errands and I’m hoping to make @sunscape’s zucchini fritters, and if there’s time, liquid pectin from the green apples and quinces. We’ll see…
