On Monday morning I was up around 5AM and got my post up and laundry started. I needed to get the cat some more cat grass, so I went out to the Small garden. I found 4 more zucchini and a cantaloupe while there.
I thought I might as well check the tomatoes while I was at it. And then I realized I’d forgotten to harvest the artichokes over the weekend and they had gotten too old. I found 4 that weren’t too bad.
On the way back to get the zucchini, I stopped and raided the Anne raspberry. It’s really starting to pump out berries.
New Herb garden, Row 7, garlic chive flowers
I rested a while and then got ready to go shopping. My general helper arrived at 8AM and we headed to the coop. We were home, unpacked, and out in the New Herb garden by 9AM. I only had until 11AM as I had a PT appointment just after noon.
As Row 3 had been planted for a while and not mulched, we got that done first.
Then we finished planting Row 4 with 2 rosemary, a sunflower, and a balsam and finished the mulching on that.
While she was mulching Row 3, I had been weeding Row 4 and 5 so half of Row 5 was weeded. I had to clean up and tie up the elecampane which took a while.
She cut off a LOT of winter kill from the sage while I finished the weeding on Row 5. Then she started to mulch what I had done. It wasn’t until we’d finished that I realized we’d not amended Row 5. We’ll just do the part we can reach on Tuesday when we finish planting that row.
I was pretty tired and even though the humidity stood at 73% I’d not had too much trouble breathing. We got cleaned up, got photos and notes, and I headed in for a shower. Then I was off to PT.
I had another appointment mid afternoon and when I got home I rested a while and started supper. I watched Big Bang Theory until bedtime.
On Tuesday my general helper comes for the last time. On Monday she heads off to college. We are going to clean out and organized the cold frame, hopefully getting everything into just 1.
Then we will work in the New Herb garden on Rows 5 & 6 until I can’t. And finally, she is going to vacuum off each one of the fire alarms in hopes of keeping them from going off. They had gone off during the day on Monday, so they are getting worse. If that doesn’t work, I’ll have to call the electrician. Just after lunch, the company is calling about the liar thermometer. I hope that can be sorted out.
