Way back in July, I planted a few seeds of peanuts in my garden where I also included some updates from my previous blogs.
I didn't really intend to buy these peanuts to plant but they were just for snacks and because some fell while the kids were eating because they had a hard time cracking the shells so some actually feel so I thought of picking them up and that's what I thought about I'll just sow it.
So after a month, yesterday I tried to check on it because peanuts usually mature within three months. And I'm not mistaken, it has matured, but if you can see here, dad put a barrier before I planted it because our pet chickens and the neighbor's ducks tried to peck at it. Unfortunately I should have taken the barrier when it had already grown because it prevented the roots where the peanuts would have grown.
I used a bolo to dig a little and slowly pulled it out and this is what it looks like. Only about nine succeeded from the peanuts I planted, some matured and some didn't, but I pulled them out so I just chose the ones that could be eaten.
Since the rainy season has already started some did not survive insect famine.
I didn't harvest much, but it was satisfying inside that I didn't even intend to plant, but the return to me was double.
The branches were also not wasted because papa's cow had free food.
And that is all about my peanut's first and last harvest this year.
I'll see if I can plant next year.
Thanks for reading this far, until next time. 💛🧡💚
