Preparing a new look for my parents in the upcoming winter season

After five years of using polybags for the mini garden at my native, I decided to give it a new look for the upcoming winter season, even though Mom repeatedly recommended to not invest anything - money, time and labor. She thinks they are at the edge of their life and anything can happen, so why invest. But my perception is different - I can go to any extent for them - seeing them a little happy counts a lot for me. So I carefully planned to replace fifteen pots on the first occurrence and in the interest of time, I prepared them before our trip to Ujjain, and kept them ready so that when I go with saplings, I can directly plant them.

The shops selling gardening items are largely unorganized and after long time I preferred to go to my favorite shop Utkal Seeds because of the best quality with affordable price - charging 140 rupees for each 12 inch plastic pot with the plate. They have moved to a new place, but helped me to find them, providing location and directions and I was happy to see them on my way to my native, saving my time and petrol.

All the pots you have seen in my garden were initially procured for them and have been lasting long, so there was no reason to explore other places and this is why I keep saying business is all about quality and trust. On top of that, they provided bulk discount, that reduced the cost - the exact same pot with plate costs 20% more otherwise.

I always put a thin layer of cocopit at the bottom of the pot, so that water will filter out without any soil loss.

And enriching the soil is the most important task and I do that by adding cocopit and vermi compost. For vermi compost, I have got another reliable source who provide the best quality, so planned and procured 25 kg for both the places. They are on the other side of the city, and even though it's expensive (adding my time and fuel), I never compromise with the quality because I have seen the impact over last few years.

So I spent couple of days to prepare them and kept it ready under the shade, as the rain did not stop.

Dad does not express anything, but I could see the happiness on his face over this change. Whenever I am at my native, I push him for small walks as he is no longer interested to walk. When we were child, they extended their hands when we started walking. Now is our time, to extend ours and motivate them to do a little - that little matters a lot.
And I did try to capture few memoirs by creating small videos or reels, I always feel privileged to have our parents at this age. More to come on that soon...
This post is part of my Google review of Utkal Seeds, a little hive marketing at my personal capacity. Now we can submit reviews only from phone and it's a little extra work, but I love to do it. Here is the review : https://maps.app.goo.gl/xCNBjVgRrEkKaB1k9
