Friday, July 7, 1967, Phuket Island, people are flocking to the north of the island for an event that will change many things. That's it, it's done! The island is connected to the mainland by a 660 meters long bridge.
There is no need to take the ferry anymore to reach the mainland, just by taking the bridge on foot or by car we find ourselves in the south of Phang Nga province.
Its name? The Sarasin Bridge or สะพานสารสิน in Thai.
55 years later, the bridge remains a place underestimated by the overseas tourists when they come on vacation in Phuket and is more frequented by the Thai.
In addition to being a bridge connecting an island to its mainland, linking two provinces, the The Sarasin Bridge is also a wonderful sight, the scent of Phuket, the fresh and delicious seafood making your mouth water...
Wednesday, January 5, 2022, I woke up in the morning, the weather was great to open the sky without clouds.
It's when my stomach started to growl loudly, "I want to eat fresh crab, I want to eat fresh crab...". So I followed my stomach's demands.
It didn't take me long to decide where to go to please my stomach but also to enjoy a nice walk. I immediately took a shower and got dressed, I also invited my husband along, but he was very busy.
So I drove to Sarasin Bridge alone.
The Sarasin Bridge is 34 kilometers from my home, it takes me about 35 minutes by car to get there.
The Sarasin Bridge is the scene of a story well known to the locals, that of an unrequited love due to the difference in the status of Ko Dam, a minibus driver and a teacher college student who had to sacrifice their love at this bridge by jumping into the water and committing suicide.
Before going to buy crabs, I first wanted to see the great view we have on the sea here, since it was a very bright day it was perfect to appreciate the view at its true value.
So I parked the car on the side of Phang Nga province because it was close to a crab shop where I wanted to eat.
As I walked to the middle of the bridge, I saw the locals fishing. I approached and spoke with them. They told me that they regularly came here to fish after being released from a rubber plantation. It's a good fishing spot, with a good view, a good location, and shady spots when it starts to get hot.
They are very kind and friendly.
It is mainly a hobby, they have only recently come to fishing. On days when they can fish a lot, they sell it at the market. Sometimes, tourists passing by ask to buy too.
สวัสดีคร้าาาาาา...... ยินดีต้อนรับสู่ภูเก็ต "ไข่มุกแห่งอันดามัน" ภูเก็ตเป็นเกาะท่องเที่ยว ที่มีสถานที่ท่องเที่ยวสวยงามมากมาย รอต้อนรับนักท่องเที่ยวจากทั่วทุกมุมโลก สะพานสารสินถือเป็นประตูสู่ภูเก็ตเลยก็ว่าได้ หากเดินทางมาภูเก็ตโดยรถยนต์หรือรถโดยสารประจำทาง ก็ต้องผ่านประตูเมืองนี้เสียก่อน นอกจากจะบินมาบนฟ้า สะพานสารสินเป็นสะพานที่เชื่อมระหว่างจังหวัดพังงาและจังหวัดภูเก็ต เพื่อความสะดวกสบายในการสัญจร โดยเชื่อมระหว่างบ้านท่าฉัตรชัย และบ้านท่านุ่นจังหวัดพังงา เป็นระยะทางทั้งหมดรวม 660 เมตร เปิดให้บริการเมื่อ 7 กรกฎาคม 2510 ก็ตั้งแต่บัวยังไม่เกิดอะนะ และที่นี่มีตำนานรักที่ไม่สมหวัง เพราะความแตกต่างในสถานะของโกดำ คนขับสองแถว และกิ๊วนักศึกษาวิทยาลัยครู ที่ต้องสังเวยความรักที่สะพานแห่งนี้ด้วยการโดดลงน้ำฆ่าตัวตาย
ที่สะพานแห่งนี้ก็จะมีคนมาตกปลาอยู่ตลอดทั้งวัน บัวก็เลยเข้าไปทักทายและคุยด้วย พี่เขาใจดีมาก บอกว่าว่างๆ จากงานทำสวนยาง ก็มาตกปลาเพลินๆ เป็นรายได้เสริม วันไหนตกได้เยอะก็เอาไปขายที่ตลาด บางทีนักท่องเที่ยวเห็นก็ขอซื้อกลับไปทำอาหารที่บ้าน
Currently, the bridge is being renovated to become a tourist attraction with a pavilion to relax and look at the landscape. It is designed in the Sino-Portuguese architectural style, like the old Phuket Town, mixed with the southern style of the hipped roof building.
ปัจจุบันได้มีการปรับปรุงสะพานแห่งนี้ ให้เป็นแหล่งท่องเที่ยวที่มีศาลาพักผ่อน และชมทิวทัศน์ ออกแบบโดยสถาปัตยกรรมชิโนโปรตุกีส ผสมผสานกับสไตล์ทางใต้หลังคาเป็นทรงปั้นหยา
Luckily, when I went to the Sarasin Bridge, the sky was clear, the water and sky were an almost indistinguishable dark blue between the sea and the sky offering a beautiful view.
โชคดีมากๆ วันที่บัวไปที่สะพานสารสิน ท้องฟ้าแจ่มใสม๊วกกกก..... น้ำทะเลและท้องฟ้าเป็นสีน้ำเงินเข้ม ที่แทบจะแยกไม่ออกระหว่างท้องทะเลและท้องฟ้า บัวเป็นคนที่แปลกมากเห็นภาพอะไรแบบนี้จะรู้สึกกลัว ที่กลัวเพราะยังไม่ได้ฉีดยา เฮ้ย!!!.... คนไม่ใช่หมา 555 เอาจริงๆ บัวเห็นทะเลสาบ หรือทะเลที่เวลามองแล้วหาที่สิ้นสุดไม่เจอ บัวจะรู้กลัวมากๆ
Later, the Thao Thepkrasattri Bridge, which is a parallel bridge to the original Sarasin Bridge, was created to relieve the growing traffic congestion, thus bringing more prosperity to Phuket Island. Its opening began in 1992.
เมื่อความเจริญก้าวเข้ามาสู่ภูเก็ต การจราจรที่เคยคล่องตัวก็เป็นติดขัด ต่อมาจึงได้มีการขยายเพื่อรองรับความเจริญ โดยสร้าง "สะพานท้าวเทพกระษัตรี" ซึ่งเป็นสะพานคู่ขนานของสะพานสารสินเดิม และเปิดให้บริการแก่ประชาชนในปี พ.ศ. 2535
At the seaside, there are local fishing boats anchored.
ที่ชายทะเลมีเรือประมงพื้นบ้านจอดทอดสมออยู่ บัวใช้กล้องมือถือซูม แต่ไม่กล้าซูมมาก เดี๋ยวภาพแตก เสียดายสาไม่ยอมมาด้วย ไม่งั้นได้ภาพสวยๆ เยอะกว่านี้
Under the bridge, there is Thai street food with a small restaurant and a tricycle selling fruit.
As I was tired of walking and hadn't had breakfast yet, my stomach started to growl in protest. So I stopped to order Pad Thai before going to buy some crab.
ตั้งใจจะมาซื้อปู แต่เดินจนขาลาก แดดก็ร้อนเปรี้ยงๆ ก็เลยแวะกินผัดไทยก่อน ใต้สะพานเขามีร้านขายผัดไทย และรถสามล้อขายผลไม้ ก็เลยสั่งอะไรเย็นๆ มาดับความร้อนก่อน
กินผัดไทยอิ่มแล้วก็ถึงเวลาไปตามหาปูกัน ซึ่งเป็นเป้าหมายหลักที่บัวต้องขับมาไกลถึงสะพานสารสิน ในที่สุดเราก็หากันจนเจอ
After having eaten well and being full, I went back on the road to achieve my final goal of buying fresh crabs having for the moment only fulfilled my goal of satisfying my eyes during a beautiful walk on the Sarasin bridge.
I finally found some crabs, the "Red Frog Crab" steamed with seafood sauce ready to eat sold 250 baht per kilo ($7.5 or 6.65€).
It is an unmissable place for locals using the Sarasin Bride to buy their evening or midday meal, located at the foot of the bridge as you leave Phuket. You will be able to choose among many dry goods, seafood, and souvenirs.

ในที่สุดก็หากันจนเจอปูจั๊กจั่นนึ่งพร้อมน้ำจิ้มซีฟู้ด ที่นี่เป็นแหล่งฝากของสารสิน ตั้งอยู่ที่เชิงสะพานขาออกจากภูเก็ต มีของแห้ง อาหารทะเล ของกิน ของฝากให้เลือกเยอะม๊วกกกก.....
On my way back, I stopped on the side of the road to buy pineapples, the smell they give off is so strong that even in the car when you drive by you can't help but be bewitched by their sweet and juicy scent. I also bought some for the security guards of my housing estate, which is just a return for their kindness. Just by seeing their smiles, I was satisfied.
ขากลับบัวก็แวะซื้อสับปะรดริมทาง ซึ่งเป็นเรื่องที่จะพลาดไม่ได้เลยเพราะมันอร่อยม๊วกกกกก.... ด้วยความตะกละบัวซื้อเยอะม๊วกกกก..... แล้วก็หิ้วไปฝากรปภ. หน้าป้อมยามหมู่บ้านด้วย ซึ่งบัวซื้อของไปฝากเป็นประจำ เป็นการแสดงน้ำใจเล็กๆ น้อยๆ เพียงแต่ได้เห็นรอยยิ้มของพวกเขา แค่นี้บัวก็มีความสุขล้าววววว....
Freshly squeezed pineapple juice, fragrant, sweet, delicious, very refreshing.
When I got home, I put all the pineapples in a big plastic bucket because I bought a lot.😜😜 Then there is a way to make eating pineapple more delicious sprinkle it with dried chili powder, sugar, and salt, all together.
เมื่อบัวกลับถึงบ้านก็จัดการเอาสับปะรดทั้งหมดที่ซื้อมา มาใส่ในถังพลาสติกใบใหญ่ เพราะบัวซื้อมาเยอะม๊วกกกกก..... ตะกละไงกลัวไม่อิ่ม (ไม่เหมามาทั้งสวนเลยหล่ะ 555) จากนั้นวิธีที่จะทำให้สับปะรดอร่อยถึงขั้นสุด ก็คือโรยพริกเกลือที่ร้านให้มาให้ทั่ว แค่นี้ก็ได้สับปะรดที่อร่อยที่สุดในสามโลกล้าววววว....
Once everything is put on a plate, it's time to eat crabs. Yay..... Yay.
Before putting it in the stomach. Let's get to know this type of crab first, shall we?
This is a "Red Frog Crab" found along with rocky shores habitats like to muddle up with sandy areas around rock piles or underwater rocks at a depth of about 60 meters, feeding on the remains of animals and plants like another seabed. They are edible crabs, although their appearance is not very appetizing, making them unpopular.
Its looks appearance is with an oval carapace. The front has large spines, the mouth and claws are large, the first two pairs of legs have lanceolate tips, and the latter two pairs are flat, pie-like. Reminds me of the monsters in Japanese superhero movies that I enjoyed watching as a kid.
เมื่อจัดทุกใส่จานอย่างเรียบร้อย ก็ได้เวลากินปูแล้ว เย้.....เย้ แต่ว่าก่อนที่เราจะกินปูเรามาทำความรู้จักเจ้าปูนี้กันก่อนดีไหม๊? เพราะหลายๆ คนคงไม่คุ้นหรือรู้จักกับปูจั๊กจั่น มันเป็นปูที่มีรูปร่างแปลกกว่าปูทั่วๆ ไป คนจึงไม่ค่อยนิยมกิน อาศัยอยู่ตามโขดหิน กินซากพืช ซากสัตว์เป็นอาหาร ไม่ว่าจะเป็นหัวเป็นขาของมัน บัวเห็นแล้วทำให้นึกถึงสัตว์ประหลาด ในหนังแปลงร่างซุปเปอร์ฮีโร่ของประเทศญี่ปุ่นที่บัวดูตอนเด็กๆ แกะออกมาไข่เต็มท้องเลยทุกโค้นนนนนน..... เสียดายมากถ่ายรูปแล้วไม่รู้เอาไปเก็บไว้ที่ไหนหาเท่าไหร่ก็หาไม่เจอ รสชาติมันก็จะคล้ายๆ พวกปูม้า ไข่มันแน่กระดองกินไปมันก็จะฝืดๆ คอหน่อยๆ แต่รวมๆ คืออร่อย บัวกลับไปจัดถึง 2 ครั้งแหน่ะ
