Sharing Donuts For Kids

At 9 a.m., I was ready to make 100 donuts for the kids. They would break their fast at the mosque, and I wanted to bring them joy. The sweet aroma filled my kitchen as I carefully prepared each donut, thinking of their smiling faces. In my community, we take turns providing a fasting break menu for kids throughout the month. I was assigned the 18th day. Excited, I prepared 100 donuts.

A few days ago, I bought all the ingredients to prepare for this special day. This morning, I started making the dough, carefully kneading it until it was perfect. Then, I fried the donuts, their golden color and delicious aroma filling my kitchen.

Each turn consists of four families, each providing a different menu. I prepared donuts, while others made lontong, fried tofu, and iced tea. By 5 o’clock, we were all at the mosque, setting up and warmly welcoming the kids as they arrived for their fasting break.

All the kids sat nicely, their faces filled with anticipation. They happily waited for the moment to break their fast. Despite their hunger, their spirits remained high, their excitement shining through as they chatted and smiled, ready to enjoy the meal prepared for them.

Sharing teaches us to care for those in need. This tradition is passed down to all kids, reinforcing the Islamic values of generosity and compassion. Unfortunately, in some parts of the world, these values have been distorted into violence, as seen in Afghanistan, Syria, and Palestine. I personally stand against radicalism and strive to uphold the true, peaceful teachings of Islam. Thanks for visiting.
