Exploring the Park in My Home Town

The Gedung Kesenian, or Art Hall, in my town is a place I rarely visit, even though it is very popular. After its recent renovation, I felt interested in taking another look.

The first thing I noticed was the statue of two serpents in the front area, as if they were greeting visitors. As I walked across the bridge with the white serpent statues, I saw another monument: a statue of a person racing on a buffalo. This represents the local tradition of buffalo racing, which happens annually.

Beyond the statue, there was a group of ladies exercising to music. While I wasn’t interested in joining the exercise, I decided to explore further and take a closer look at the buildings in the 6.5-hectare park. Some buildings were still under renovation, and I saw workers busy at the site. A few buildings looked slightly dirty due to the current rainy season.

I concluded that there wasn’t much to see in the main area. However, outside, there was a pond encircling the park. Beyond the pond was a jogging track, which locals use for exercise and walking around the park.

I walked over to the jogging track and noticed more people starting to arrive as the day progressed. There wasn’t much of a noticeable change after the renovation, but some areas looked old and poorly maintained. Still, other parts appeared in good condition.

The pond looked nice despite the green, murky water caused by the rain. But the locals didn’t seem to mind; they appeared to enjoy their time walking on the track.
