The Chinese king robber fly (Cophinopoda chinensis), also known as the heavy robber fly, is the king of the grasslands. I captured those heavy robbers in a habitat located on the east coast of Lhokseumawe.
I despise flies, but I have to exclude robber flies; they are a different kind of fly. I love their aggressive appearance and muscular thorax. The large compound eyes, thick whiskers and sideburns, and lethal pointed proboscis are enough to describe the king of the grasslands' terrifying appearance.
This is another entry I submitted for the daily #monomad challenge.
