Monomad Challenge - Lion’s Gate in a monochromatic Jerusalem [Eng - Esp]

# Lion’s Gate, the East Door to the Old City ______ Hello everybody!! This is my entry to the #monomad challenge!! Today I’ll show you a part of Jerusalem. In my week in that amazing city, I was able to visit different places that were iconic and that some friends recommended me. One of those places is Lion’s Gate. This “door” is one of the seven gates that allows you to get into the Old City. This is an open door, that you simply see and walk through to get inside or outside. It’s in the center of the city, in the east extreme.

En mi semana en esa increíble ciudad, pude visitar diferentes lugares que eran icónicos y que algunos amigos me recomendaron. Uno de esos lugares es la Puerta del León. Esta "puerta" es una de las siete puertas que te permiten entrar en la Ciudad Vieja. Es una puerta abierta, que simplemente se ve y se atraviesa para entrar o salir. Está en el centro de la ciudad, en el extremo este.

Is very beautiful how it divides the landscape, since it is between the Olives Mount and the Old City, and you will see in the pictures, how it’s very well protected by walls. It’s pretty amazing how open is the area outside, and how you can even see one Catholic Church in the Gethsemane Mount, and then, tiny streets are waiting for you, once you cross the gate.

I remember that was a very hot day, so I bought a bottle of water as soon as I found someone who sold this. I paid around USD1,50 for the water, which was very expensive. Once inside the Old City of Jerusalem, I started to observe the small streets, the signs, with those beautiful typography, and how the three religions started to mix again. This is something that I’ve never seen before and I have to admit that I love it! Three strong cultures are living together, of course this creates conflicts from time to time, but I didn’t live this particularity as a problem, and I didn’t even feel scared (many people from Argentina told me: “Oh take care there”). Well… people is very very friendly, no matter their religion. I saw little children going to the school (or well, I supposed so because they were carrying some backpacks, you’ll see them in the pictures). Anyway, I just wanted to try Jerusalem in black and white, and… I LOVE IT! Jerusalem is already art, but in monochromatic is mystery!

Recuerdo que era un día muy caluroso, así que compré una botella de agua en cuanto encontré a alguien que la vendía. Pagué unos 1,50 dólares por el agua, que era muy cara. Una vez dentro de la Ciudad Vieja de Jerusalén, empecé a observar las callejuelas, los carteles, con esa hermosa tipografía, y cómo las tres religiones empezaban a mezclarse de nuevo. Esto es algo que nunca había visto antes y tengo que admitir que me encanta. Tres fuertes culturas conviven, por supuesto que esto crea conflictos de vez en cuando, pero yo no viví esta particularidad como un problema, y ni siquiera sentí miedo (mucha gente de Argentina me dijo: "Oh ten cuidado ahí"). Bueno... la gente es muy muy amigable, sin importar su religión. Vi niños pequeños que iban a la escuela (o bueno, eso supuse porque llevaban unas mochilas, las verán en las fotos). En fin, sólo quería probar Jerusalén en blanco y negro, y... ¡me encanta! ¡Jerusalén ya es arte, pero en monocromático es un misterio!
