The island of the island ________ It continues to rain in Ibiza, and these photos for today's #monomad challenge show a little of what life is like here. In this part of Playa d'en Bossa, every time it rains we are completely cut off, and the only way out is through the water. It's exhausting, especially because the season has been very, very busy and now we're working double shifts because many of our colleagues are unable to get to work due to road closures. Yesterday, a storm was forecast, but fortunately the clouds dissipated on their way to this island. Today, we have clouds overhead again.

Yesterday, I managed to leave this space because the UME (Military Emergency Unit) didn't take too long and managed to remove the water that had accumulated in the street. I took advantage of the opportunity while I could. I went to the gym and to buy water, and I took these photos on the way.

I can't help but look at this from a geographer's perspective: the disaster risk management that can be done here is impressive. We are in an area of almost extreme vulnerability, where over the years the area could really be flooded if the height of the water table is combined with a rise in sea level and an increase in rainfall. There was less material damage this time than a week ago because people had already been warned, but those of us who live at work can't take it anymore. Customers are becoming increasingly aggressive in their treatment of us, and unfortunately, we don't have any answers.
