Hello there, black-and-white photography lovers!

Twice I have heard the crunch of leaves and stalks being munched. Twice I have come across this locust. It is not a common sight around here. Grasshoppers are common, but these things are a weird treat to the eye. They are the bane of crops and gardens.

My mom was wondering what happened to that plant. It looks like it is being eaten but she did know what was it. It was too big for ants. She thought it was some bigger animal or even a bird. But I discovered the culprit. It is a locust. The first to I saw the insect, it was surreal. I had never seen a yellow grasshopper. It looked so weird. But it was the kind of thing I had to photograph.

A week later, I listened to the crunch again and move slow towards the plant to discover a fully grown locust eating the leaves. Then I took these photos.

Maybe all locusts are yellow before maturing. Who knows? It might be a certain mutation. Those color photos will cones up in my blog later. These are from the grown insect. The color is that full brown that serves as camouflage between twigs and dry leaves.

I was wondering what to do with it. Insects do not have long lives. Not even when they are not eaten by something else do they live long. So I just let the thing be. It can't eat the whole plant by itself. Or maybe it could.
