The Final Beat: Passion and Power in Flamenco / El Último Compás: Pasión y Fuerza del Flamenco [Eng–Esp]

Hello, dear Black and White community!

I close this series with a selection that cost me more than I imagined. It was hard work to make the final decision.

Among dozens of photographs from that day, I chose these for the intensity they convey. I used continuous flash and Rembrandt lighting to emphasize the drama and strength of flamenco.

The red background was no coincidence: I was looking for a color that would evoke power, passion, and energy. This was the last of the three outfits we used in the session, perhaps the one with the most character. Dani gave herself completely; every gesture and every look felt like a final, firm, and forceful beat, reflecting all the passion she feels for the dance, especially flamenco.

With this submission, I bid farewell to a project that was also part of my final exam. Beyond the technique, it was an exercise in learning, patience, selection, and commitment to the story I wanted to tell.

Thanks to Dani for her dedication and strength. I hope the photographs are to her liking. Which one was your favorite? Your critiques and comments will help me a lot to keep improving.

¡Hola, querida comunidad en Blanco y Negro!

Cierro esta serie con una selección que me costó más de lo que imaginé. Fue un trabajo duro tomar la decisión final.

Entre decenas de fotografías de aquel día, elegí estas por la intensidad que transmiten. Utilicé flash continuo y luz Rembrandt para acentuar el dramatismo y la fuerza del flamenco.

El fondo rojo no fue casualidad: buscaba un color que evocara poder, pasión y energía. Esta fue la última de las tres vestimentas que usamos en la sesión, quizá la que más carácter tuvo. Dani se entregó por completo; cada gesto y cada mirada parecían un compás final, firme y contundente, reflejando toda la pasión que siente por el baile, especialmente por el flamenco.

Con esta entrega, despido un proyecto que también formó parte de mi examen final. Más allá de la técnica, fue un ejercicio de aprendizaje, paciencia, selección y compromiso con la historia que quería contar.
