Hello Black and White #Hive friends!... Each shot I took on the street carries more than an image. It carries a story, a silence, a fragment of time that will never return. Black and white wasn't just an aesthetic choice, but rather a way to strip the scene of excess, revealing the raw essence of the moment. When I stripped away the colors, what truly matters remained: the contrast, the truth, the emotion hidden in the textures and shapes.

Photographing on the street is embracing the unpredictable. Nothing can be controlled, and that's precisely what makes each photo unique. The dog crossing the sidewalk, the child running aimlessly, the man stopping to light a cigarette, the woman looking out the window—all of this happens without rehearsal, but gains eternity when frozen by the lens. It's as if I steal small moments from life and transform them into eternal witnesses that everything, even the most ordinary, can be art.

Fotografar na rua é aceitar o imprevisível. Nada pode ser controlado, e é justamente isso que torna cada foto única. O cachorro que cruza a calçada, a criança que corre sem direção, o homem que para para acender um cigarro, a mulher que observa pela janela, tudo isso acontece sem ensaio, mas ganha eternidade quando congelado pela lente. É como se eu roubasse pequenos instantes da vida e os transformasse em testemunhas eternas de que tudo, até o mais comum, pode ser arte

Every photo I take is also a mirror. A mirror of the city, a mirror of who I am, a mirror of whoever sees it. Because those who observe my images see not only walls and shadows, but also a part of themselves reflected in that silence. Black and white reveals not only what's in front of the camera, but also what we carry within: our memories, our absences, our own shadows.

Cada foto que fiz é também um espelho. Espelho da cidade, espelho de quem sou, espelho de quem vê. Porque quem observa minhas imagens não vê apenas muros e sombras, mas também uma parte de si mesmo refletida naquele silêncio. O preto e branco não revela apenas o que está diante da câmera, mas aquilo que carregamos dentro de nós: nossas memórias, nossas ausências, nossas próprias sombras.

And within this reflection, people often ignored by the city also emerge: street workers who endure endless hours, residents in precarious conditions who turn the sidewalk into their homes, vendors who carry their dreams in makeshift carts, anonymous figures who bring life to the concrete, but whose existence is rarely documented. By photographing them, I not only expose the harsh reality, but invite those who observe to feel empathy, recognize the dignity in each gesture, and understand that the street is made of presences, not just walls and shadows.

E dentro desse reflexo, surgem também as pessoas que a cidade muitas vezes insiste em ignorar: trabalhadores de rua que enfrentam jornadas infinitas, moradores em condições precárias que transformam a calçada em lar, vendedores que carregam seus sonhos em carrinhos improvisados, figuras anônimas que dão vida ao concreto, mas que raramente têm sua existência registrada. Ao fotografá-los, não exponho apenas a realidade dura, mas convido quem olha para sentir empatia, reconhecer a dignidade em cada gesto e entender que a rua é feita de presenças, não apenas de paredes e sombras.

Black and white forces us to feel more than see. There's no distraction from vibrant colors, just lines, lights, and shadows that invite the eye to explore every detail. It's in this nakedness that photography becomes persuasive, because it shows that beauty isn't in the obvious, but in what most people pass by without noticing. The peeling wall, the crooked shadow, the forgotten reflection in a puddle—all of this gains power when we take our time and let our gaze rest.

O preto e branco nos obriga a sentir mais do que ver. Não há distração de cores vibrantes, apenas linhas, luzes e sombras que convidam o olhar a percorrer cada detalhe. É nessa nudez que a fotografia se torna persuasiva, porque mostra que a beleza não está no óbvio, mas no que a maioria passa sem notar. O muro descascado, a sombra torta, o reflexo esquecido em uma poça, tudo isso ganha potência quando retiramos a pressa e deixamos o olhar repousar.

Perhaps that's why the street never exhausts itself. Every time I return, I find new traces, new stories, new forms that weren't there before, or perhaps were there, but I didn't yet have the eyes to see them. Street photography, in black and white, is an invitation: to slow down, look deeply, feel the weight of time, and recognize that the city also breathes.

Talvez seja por isso que a rua nunca se esgota. Cada vez que volto, encontro novos traços, novas histórias, novas formas que não estavam lá antes, ou talvez estivessem, mas eu ainda não tinha olhos para enxergar. A fotografia de rua, em preto e branco, é um convite: desacelerar, olhar fundo, sentir o peso do tempo, e reconhecer que a cidade também respira.
