Today we woke up with the town's streets covered in dense fog... The fog was so thick that it came in through the windows of the houses and challenged the smoke of the hot and recently prepared coffee... It was barely 6:30 AM, the town was silent, only a few roosters crowing and a donkey braying in the distance... I know what these misty mornings are like, it seems as if time went back in time and it was the 70's of the past century, when I used to wander along the road to the North as a child...
Hoy despertamos con las calles del pueblo cubiertas de densa niebla... Era tal la espesura de la niebla que entraba por las ventanas de la casa y desafiaba al humo del café caliente y recién colado... Eran apenas las 6:30 AM, el pueblo estaba en silencio, solo se escuchaban algunos cantos de gallos y un burro rebuznando en la lejanía... Yo conozco como son estas mañanas así con neblina, parece que el tiempo retrocediese y fuesen los años 70 del siglo pasado, cuando me iba a deambular por el camino del Norte siendo un niño apenas...
My plans for today were to go for an early walk and exercise, then come home and do a bit of work on some outstanding merchandise orders. But no, I can't resist the temptation of the fog, so I left a note for my wife and daughter asking them to take care of the outstanding commitments, and I took my camera, and I stopped thinking about everything, and I went outside and plunged into the fog heading north out of town, where the pavement ends and the dirt road that winds through the farmland and then up into the mountains begins... I know that on days like this, being on that road is like looking at the past through a magic window...
Mis planes para hoy eran salir a caminar un poco temprano y a ejercitarme, entonces volver a casa y trabajar un poco despachando algunos pedidos de mercancía pendientes. Pero no, no puede resistir la tentación de la niebla, así que dejé una nota a mi esposa y a mi hija pidiéndoles que fuesen ellas quienes se encargaran de los compromisos pendientes y tomé mi cámara, y dejé de pensar en todo, y salí a la calle y me sumergí en la neblina rumbo al Norte del pueblo, donde el pavimento termina y comienza el camino de tierra que atraviesa el campo de sembradíos y luego sube hacia las montañas... Yo sé que en días como este, estar en ese camino es como mirar el pasado a través de una ventana mágica...
I walked a couple of kilometres through the sleepy streets, so that by the time I reached the countryside it was already past 7:00 AM and the field workers were heading off to do their chores across the road. Then ‘a thousand pictures were there happening in unison’ and I was happy to have take the decision to wander along that path which, with every step taken, seemed to unfold scenes which could well belong to half a century ago... And the fog!... Ah, the fog!... When it visits us, it seems to change everything!...
Caminé un par de kilómetros por entre las calles dormidas, así que al llegar a la campiña ya eran pasadas las 7:00 AM y los trabajadores del los campos se dirigían a cumplir sus labores a través del camino. Entonces "mil fotografías estaban allí sucediendo al unisono" y yo me sentí feliz por haber tomado la decisión de deambular por aquel sendero el cual, con cada paso dado, parecía desplegar escenas las cuales bien podrían pertenecer a medio siglo atrás... ¡Y la niebla!... ¡Ah, la niebla!... ¡Cuando nos visita parece cambiarlo todo!...
I took a thousand deep breaths, saturated my plexus with fresh air and sweet mist, looked at each person, greeted and scrutinised each one of them... I felt at times like ‘a visitor from another time’ watching this unexpected display of human activity whose actors seemed at times not to understand why I was so amazed... I have done this hundreds of times over the last decades, but I never cease to be enraptured as a child when I look at everything that happens here on this road when the fog visits... And now, fortunately, I have a camera and I have you guys at #Hive to share this with!... ;)
Respiré profundo mil veces, saturé mi plexo con el aire fresco y la niebla dulce, miré a cada persona, saludé y escruté a cada uno de ellos... Me sentí por momentos como "un visitante de otro tiempo" observando aquel inesperado despliegue de actividad humana cuyos actores parecían a veces no comprender el que me sintiese tan maravillado... He hecho esto cientos de veces a lo largo de las ultimas décadas, pero nunca dejo de extasiarme como un niño cuando miro todo lo que sucede aquí en este camino cuando la niebla nos visita... ¡Y ahora, afortunadamente, tengo una cámara y los tengo a ustedes en #Hive para poder compartir esto!... ;)

ADDITIONAL TECHNICAL NOTE: Photographs captured with my Nikon D7000 DSLR camera in RAW format, then processed in Adobe Camera RAW for adjustments regarding light, sharpening, contrast and depth... They were then exported to JGP format on which minor modifications such as straightening and adding watermarks were carried out using PhotoScape 3.6.3.
NOTA TÉCNICA ADICIONAL: Fotografias capturadas con mi cámara DSLR Nikon D7000 en formato RAW, procesadas posteriormente en Adobe Camera RAW para ajustes relativos a luz, afilado, contraste y profundidad... Luego fueron exportadas a formato JGP sobre el cual se llevaron a cabo modificaciones menores como enderezado y agregado de marcas de agua usando PhotoScape 3.6.3.
