There were some portraits saved in my archives. Sometimes I get carried away by the sheer number of wide-angle street scenes I love to take every day, so I forget the closer portraits I also usually take of people. But today I had some free time to look for those photos of faces from my town. Those photos that clearly reflect what it's like to be here in Montalbán every day, and to know each other forever, and to understand each other's joys and sorrows, and to see their humanity walking the streets, and then to take a photo, look at it later, and understand that we're all part of something bigger...
Se estaban quedando algunos retratos rezagados en mis archivos. Algunas veces me dejo llevar por la gran cantidad de escenas callejeras de visión amplia las cuales amo hacer diariamente, entonces se me olvidan un poco los retratos más cercanos los cuales también acostumbro hacer a las personas con frecuencia. Pero hoy he tenido el suficiente tiempo libre para hacer una búsqueda de esas fotos con rostros de mi pueblo. Esas fotos en donde se refleja claramente como es estar aquí en Montalbán a diario, y conocerse los unos a otros desde siempre, y entender las alegrías y las tristezas de otros, y mirar su humanidad misma yendo por las calles, y entonces hacer una foto y mirarla luego y entender que todos formamos parte de algo más amplio...

I have given some titles to these portraits, which tell a little about the people in the photos, but I can add a little more: Cheo (📷 01) stopped next to me and without saying hello began to complain because his boss went on a trip and did not pay him his weekly salary 😕... The one everyone calls "El Hueso" (📷 02) is a butcher, he was a marathon runner and now he also raises pigs in the countryside... I found Jacinta and Rafael (📷 03) on a street adjusting the provisions loaded on the backs of their mules, both are heading to their home in the mountains, they have come to sell their harvest in the town and also to buy other provisions to take... You may have already seen "Cheo" (📷 04) in some of my previous publications, he is a folkloric cultivator, he is a musician and he does not like to be silent, he always speaks happily, he can always sing and make music even clapping his hands. Also, he always wants his picture taken... Luis "Iron Bender" (📷 05) is a huge man and has that nickname because of his great strength, he works in a concrete plant and likes to bend pieces of iron to show off his physical strength...
He puesto algunos títulos a estos retratos, los cuales hablan un poco de las personas que aparecen en las fotos, pero puedo agregar un poco más: Cheo (📷 01) se detuvo a mi lado y sin saludar comenzó a quejarse porque su patrón se fue de viaje y no le pagó su salario semanal 😕... Ese a el que todos llaman "El Hueso" (📷 02) es carnicero, fue maratonista y ahora también cría cerdos en el campo... A Jacinta y Rafael (📷 03) los encontré en una calle ajustando los viveres cargados a lomo de sus mulas, ambos van rumbo a su casa en las montañas, han venido a vender su cosecha en el pueblo y también a comprar otros víveres para llevar... A "Cheo"(📷 04) ya quizás lo hayan visto en algunas de mis publicaciones previas, es un cultor floclorico, es músico y no le gusta estar callado, siempre habla alegremente, siempre puede cantar y hacer música incluso palmeando sus manos. Además, siempre quiere que le hagan una foto... Luis "Dobla Fierros" (📷 05) es un hombre enorme y tiene ese mote debido a su gran fuerza, trabaja en una concretera y gusta de doblar pedazos de fierros para hacer gala de su fortaleza física...

And everyone calls my friend Luis Sevilla (📷 06) "El Chivo Poeta" (The Poet Goat), some say his face resembles a goat's and he really is a poet and a very good one, he even has a book published... Rafael (📷 07) is a retired soldier, approaching 80 years old, now he raises "Cebú" breed cattle and that's why everyone calls him "Rafael el Cebú" (Rafael the Cebú)... And José (📷 08), my good friend José used to work clearing land with his "Machete" and that's why they've called him that for as long as I can remember, this town is like that: Sometimes you lose your name and gain a new one... And out of a house comes a man whose name I don't remember and says to me: Jesus, come inside and take a picture of my son with my Mom, I go inside and the grandmother (📷 09) is scolding the boy because he wants to have a second cup of coffee, the child grumbles and I take several pictures while all this happens...
Y a mi amigo Luis Sevilla (📷 06) todos le dicen "El Chivo Poeta", algunos dicen que su rostro recuerda a el de una cabra y además en verdad es poeta y uno muy bueno, tiene incluso algún libro publicado... Rafael (📷 07) es militar retirado, ya se acerca a sus 80 años, ahora cría ganado de raza "Cebú" y de ahí proviene que todo le llamen así "Rafael el Cebú"... Y José (📷 08), mi buen amigo José acostumbra a trabajar desmontando terrenos con su "Machete" y entonces le llaman así desde que tengo memoria, este pueblo es así: A veces pierdes tu nombre y ganas uno nuevo... Y de una casa sale un hombre cuyo nombre no recuerdo y me dice: Jesús, ven adentro y haz una foto de mi hijo con mi Mamá, yo voy hacia adentro y la abuela (📷 09) está regañando al chico porque quiere este beber una segunda taza de café, el niño refunfuña y yo disparo varias fotos mientras todo esto sucede...

ADDITIONAL TECHNICAL NOTE: Photographs captured with my Nikon D7000 DSLR camera in RAW format, then processed in Adobe Camera RAW for adjustments regarding light, sharpening, contrast and depth... They were then exported to JGP format on which minor modifications such as straightening and adding watermarks were carried out using PhotoScape v3.7
NOTA TÉCNICA ADICIONAL: Fotografias capturadas con mi cámara DSLR Nikon D7000 en formato RAW, procesadas posteriormente en Adobe Camera RAW para ajustes relativos a luz, afilado, contraste y profundidad... Luego fueron exportadas a formato JGP sobre el cual se llevaron a cabo modificaciones menores como enderezado y agregado de marcas de agua usando PhotoScape v3.7
