When there are 2 days and 21 hours left until the end of the current [season](https://leofinance.io/@leoglossary/leoglossary-season) of Splinterlands I am in the Diamond II league of the **[Modern Format](https://leofinance.io/@leoglossary/leoglossary-modern-and-wild-formats)** with a [rating](https://leofinance.io/@leoglossary/leoglossary-rating) score of 3311 points and am only 89 points away from my **minimum season goal** which is to **finish the season at least in the Diamond I league**.  I am quite optimistic about reaching my season goal: - because it is a goal that I have also achieved in the previous two seasons - because season after season I have continually increased the battle strength of my card collection through purchases/upgrades of cards that I have considered useful in battle and that play well in combination with the cards I have in my card collection. Today I am happy to share an important purchase goal I set 21 days ago and achieved just two days ago: I finally purchased **Doctor blight** of **level 3**.  Doctor Blight is a card that I have always liked a lot because it is one of the cards that has a characteristic that I consider very important: **versatility**.  **A versatile card is a card that can be used frequently because it plays well in **[battles](https://leofinance.io/posts/@leoglossary/leoglossary-ranked-battles)** that have different battle rules** and is on average stronger than cards that have similar play stats. The card I consider the most versatile of all cards is a summoner card: **Byzantine Kitty**.  Byzantine Kitty level 3 has been my purchase goal for a long time, and it was a purchase goal I reached after several months because I chose Peakmonsters' [Make Bid](https://peakmonsters.com/market) purchase mode to purchase it. Byzantine Kitty was the card that allowed me to immediately improve my win rate in the Wild Format Gold leagues, leagues I played in before the introduction of the anti-bots measures in Modern Format. After the announcement of the date of the introduction of anti-bots measures in the Modern Format I immediately switched from the [Wild Format](https://leofinance.io/@leoglossary/leoglossary-modern-and-wild-formats) to the Ranked Battles of the Modern Format and I will only return to play in the Wild Format if anti-bots measures will be introduced there as well otherwise for me the Wild Format simply does not exist because I like to play Splinterlands against real players and not against bots and bot-farms. Upgrading my Byzantine Kitty from level 3 to level 4 would have been my main upgrade goal today but only if there were no bots in the Wild Format. **Because of the bots I am not doing this upgrade** because when the new edition set is released, the Untamed cards might be excluded from Modern Format and might only be usable in Wild Format and playing against cold, overly efficient bots is not an option for a real player like me! To purchase Doctor Blight at level 3, I spent less than **$30 for BCX ($179.99)**. I chose to purchase Doctor Blight through the use of the **Make Bid** feature of **PeakMonsters**.  I waited more than 20 days to complete the purchase but the wait was worthwhile because I purchased Doctor Blight at a really low cost per BCX because I purchased 6 BCX below the lowest average price per BCX recorded over a 180-day time interval as you can see from the chart below that I took from https://monstermarket.io/price-history  Screenshot from: https://monstermarket.io/price-history I have not yet used level 3 Doctor Blight in the Modern Format ranked battles because the card I purchased had a cooldown period but in about 2 hours I will be able to try it and I am very excited about that.  **Doctor Blight** is a **promo legendary** card of the **Chaos Legion** edition. The cost is higher than other legendary cards of the Chaos Legion edition but it is a cost in my opinion justified by the **abilities** that Doctor Blight has and also by the fact that it is a **Neutral card** that can be summoned by summoners of all elements. Screenshot from: https://www.splintercards.com/tool-cards-league-cap.html I chose to purchase **Doctor Blight** of **level 3** and not 4 because: - I have other purchase/upgrade goals and Doctor Blight has a relatively high cost per BCX - **I consider level 3 the level with the best utility/cost ratio** Doctor Blight of level 3 will be useful to me in many battles but it will be especially useful in battles in **Diamond+** leagues that have the **Little League** ruleset in which I will always line up Doctor Blight in **last position** because thanks to the **Camouflage** ability he will never be first attack target except in the case where the battle rule cancels this ability such as the **Aimless** ruleset (All monsters have Scattershot ability).  The ideal combination of rulesets for Doctor Blight is in my opinion: **Little League + Wands Out + Reverse Speed**.  In a battle of this type Doctor Blight will always be my first choice for sixth or fifth position. Doctor Blight might have difficulty instead in battles with rulesets **Magic Reflect, Noxious Fumes** and **Earthquake** but in this case it could still be a valid choice but only if used in combination with cards that have the **Triage** ability such as **Queen Mycelia, Angelic Mandarin** and **Spirit Hoader**.  I am convinced that I have made a good purchase that will help me increase my seasonal win rate and also help me increase my seasonal gain in [SPS](https://leofinance.io/@leoglossary/leoglossary-splintershards-sps) in Modern Format. One of my main goals on Splinterlands is to reach an amount of **100K SPS staked**. I currently have **66497.71 SPS** staked and am close to completing 70% of my accumulation goal.  Thanks to the exclusion of bots in the Modern Format I have increased my gain in SPS per battle won and by continuing to increase the battle strength of my card collection I should be able to speed up my SPS token accumulation activity although reaching my goal will still take some time.  Screenshot from: https://splex.gg/tools/reward_pools In the current season, I have only started playing regularly since August 21 but I already have a higher total gain in SPS tokens from won battles than in the previous season and this is a sign that I am making good purchase/upgrade choices.  In my opinion, this is also a good time to make card purchases because **when phase 1.5 of lands begins, cards will acquire a new use case** as worker cards in land plots and because of this they may have a higher demand and therefore may also increase in value and because DEC tokens will also acquire a new use case the value of DEC tokens may also increase and indirectly the value of SPS tokens may also increase (this is my personal opinion and not financial advice).
