It's 4 in the morning and I can't sleep anymore. So I thought I could as well get up and make a post after quite some weeks of not blogging ...

All images in this post have been taken the previous Saturday in the Šunikov vodni gaj, the Šunik Water Grove in the Lepena Valley in Slovenia, from where I have posted quite some images in the past (Google Maps).

Images above: When I arrived at the Šunik Water Grove, I have taken two test shots of the Lepena river with the macro lens, but in the end I liked them much enough to edit and post them here :)

I thought there would be more Spring flowers blooming already, but Spring still had not really arrived in the mountain regions, such as this valley is a little higher up in the mountains.

So, the Vinca minor or lesser periwinkle (Wikipedia: Vinca minor) was the only flower I have photographed that day, or better said the images of this flower were the only ones worth editing.

And I have taken photos of some green plants which were growing on the other side of the little gorge the Lepena river runs through. I have tried another kind of editing - such dark and moody images seem to be quite popular at the moment.

I have photographed many of the bigger waterfalls in this area many times before, and apart from more or less water they always look about the same. So I have started to look for the smaller and sometimes even tiny waterfalls or little streams which are flowing over the rocks.

As said above, the big waterfalls look always about the same, but these small streams and cascades are different almost every time I am there. Sometimes there's no water and sometimes too much, so that I postpone taking a photo to next time.

I might better have titled the post "One Flower and One Bird" because both images above show the same flower and the bird below was the only one that was kind enough to let me take some photos 😀

The White-throated Dipper saw me and turned around that I could take better photos of it, although the first pose looked quite pretty too 😉

These are lovely little birds which are excellent and fast divers.

Before he posed for me on this rock, he was on a rock further down the river where the background was much more pleasing, but it was too far away for my 100-400mm lens. So I have to apologize for the messy background.

So, that was it for today's post and I hope you like the images from one of my favourite places.

I don't know when I will make my next post, but I will try to post more often than only once a month from now on. Maybe I should always get up and make a post when I can't sleep. In that case you might see a post from me almost every day 😁
