Hello world. Hello Hive! Hello folks. So here we are. Sing along if you know the words! What even is this place? It's my introduction. Both for Hive and for the drumming community. Allow me to introduce myself! I play drums. I also do other things too but we'll get to those later. Right now my focus is on getting drum recordings I made a long time ago online so I can share them easily with friends and, well, you too if you're interested. You can join the ride, for sure.
It's mostly just me playing drums by myself — fifteen years ago now actually — practising and experimenting. Also just trying to work out what I could do, and what would sound good, which I guess is all just the same thing anyway. Some of these recordings go on and on and vary in their musical and audio quality. The only viable method of recording anything for me at the time was with considerably basic mobile phones with considerably basic internal microphones. I was in high school. There's about 40 recordings in total.
So yeah, it's going to take some time to review them all and make edits, increase gain, compression, chop out the silences. You know, all those fun thousand tiny things. I will release the "finished products" one by one to the album page linked below whenever I get the chance to do that editing work. I'll try to do it often.
If you're not interested in listening to someone play only drums, sometimes poorly, for up to an hour or so at a time, then this ain't your bag. I don't mind, really it's cool. I get it. I can't say I spend much of my time at all listening to other people drumming, but hey that might change if anyone here on Hive and in the Drumming Community specifically would like to share their recordings with me or whatever. Hit me up with a link. Or share your stories and opinions in the comments.
And so here's a start for this whole process anyway. Pleased to meet you. Let's get on with the actual audio for those keen to have a listen.
This is the first drum recording I ever made:
Recorded Friday the 11th of April 2008
It's here:

Okay damn, that's still not a thing. At least it would be here, if the Hive frontends supported Bandcamp embeds in the same way they support YouTube embeds, you'd be able to just press a big ol' happy play button right here and listen to the damn music but nope. We're not there yet.
@ecency and @peakd can I make a feature request my friends? Or can you tell me how we can make feature requests? It's such a small thing. Music is pretty important to Hive obviously and this seems like low-hanging fruit in coding terms. Maybe?
Well anyway, it's no big deal really. You'll just have to settle for a screenshot of the embed code page instead, with a link to take you to the actual page where you can stream the recording immediately for free. So either click the picture itself or click the link below like it's 1995, both go to the same place.
Have fun with it
