Fall has officially hit around here.
The first sign is pumpkins being turned into Jackolanterns slowly over time. These guys are the painted intermediate step before some actually get carved before Halloween.
The maples are mostly turning now with bright oranges and reds.
Some smaller trees are nice and red too. Still quite a few are green still so I doubt this fall will have the colors changing all at once.
Plenty of nice specimens to soak in glycerin then flatten in a book to preserve their color.
The rose hips match all the oranges and reds that are in the trees. These are good to harvest too for tea.
Here is one that is halfway turned.
Red maple against a dull gray tennis court. Makes for some nice contrast.

Orange an gray is one of may favorite color combos for some reason. Kind of industrial design colors for concepts.
Getting artsy with a line, the sun and a stray tennis ball with a long shadow.
This must have been one mean serve that was out of bounds. Stuck at the top of a 15 foot tall fence.
Thankfully it didn't hit the lone dove on this wire.
Now for more pumpkin painting. This happened yesterday and I was out with my daughter while the streets were swarmed with people trick or treating all the businesses.
These are from a bar that offered pumpkin painting instead of candy. I suspect these ones were done by the employees rather than the kids.
Most of the kid painted ones were taken home by the parents. Thankfully I was able to distract my daughter from all the terrible candy while walking her in the park away from the business trick or treating. I suspect she might get wise to my diversions by next Halloween. Then I'll have to figure out how to convince her that candy makes holes in your teeth...
