Walk near closed hotel and a ruined beach club: Another piece of abandoned paradise on the shores of the Gulf of Thessaloniki

If by any chance I mustered up the courage to jump over the wire fence of the derelict hotel, and also went around the ground floor and checked if any of the windows or doors were open, I might have peeked inside, so this post would only be published in the #urbex community.

This way, considering that I "just" walked around the fence of the hotel complex, the post is also going to the #wednesdaywalk community this Wednesday. I haven't done a cross post on Hive before, so this is a great opportunity.

I already mentioned walking along the beach and photographing interesting things I saw along the way, as in one of the previous posts, when I took pictures of this abandoned pool complex. I was looking for such small, interesting details, but also some much larger ones.

This area, where I spent a few days of my vacation, has a lot of neglected and abandoned buildings.

Passing by the fence, it was clear to me that this pool has not been in use for many years, as well as the hotel next to the pool, but I was surprised when, on the opposite side of the hotel, I came across a large parking lot and a driveway for cars, and a facility connected to the hotel that acted as its reception.

Amazed, I passed near the front door and saw a neat space inside. Later, I found information on the Internet that some student cooking competitions are held in this area, but I am quite sure that the participants of the competition are not accommodated in their accommodation. I mean, that stay would be worse for them than staying in the house of terror and horror.

I continued walking past the fence of the hotel and when I crossed the street, I came across a collapsed and abandoned building that is responsible for half of the post. I passed from the front and saw a gate that was locked and jammed.

Walking around the fence again, until I found a door in the wall, through which I could enter the interior.

And inside, chaos. Debris and breakage everywhere. Broken glass, bricks, discarded cardboard, tires, pieces of clothing...

When I went out into the "courtyard" and reached the gate (now on the inside, I realized that this used to be an entertainment complex, probably a club, disco or restaurant, which either worked, then was abandoned and fell into disrepair or was never completed.

There are no signs of fire anywhere on the walls, so to think that a fire has consumed this space, it seems as if it was knocked down by a strong storm. Or maybe they didn't have a work permit, so they were torn down by the inspection, or the owner resented some local mobster, so he blew up the whole complex...

There are a lot of unknowns, so I searched the Internet. I didn't find anything about this location on the Internet, and the few passers-by didn't seem like locals who might know the history of this place.

I set out to find out something about this place and found the location and facility on Google Maps. Thanks to Maps' history, there's a snapshot of the street I walked down in 2011, at to whom the name of this place can be seen.

Porto Aachen used to be the venue for various celebrations, receptions and weddings. And today it is a ruin. Shame, this seemed like a nice space to hold a ceremony right on the seafront. I believe that this walk would have been much more interesting 15 years ago, but this is how I had the opportunity to see the impact of time on the environment around us and to see the passage of time on one object, from shine to eyes...

So I decided to take a few steps further, exit this ruined and boarded-up former entertainment complex and go to the beach, which has been like this since the beginning of the world, and to end my today's #wednesdaywalk with a walk on the sand by the sea.
