I'm alwyas wanted to paint some butterflies that I can easily add to digital paintings hat require it instead of doing them from scratch everytime. I love things that glow, they give me magical feelings so I created these and I'll tell you how..
- Make a sketch of the butterfly or any object/creature of choice.
- Create a new layer, fill in the silhouette with any bright color, set the layer to a Hard Light blending mode and turn the opacity down to 20-30%.
- Create a new layer masked to the silhouette, set the blend mode to Add Glow and paint around the area you want the glow using a soft brush then soften any hard edges, you can see mine in the third step.
- On another Add Glow layer, paint more details using a lighter color just like the lines I made in the fourth image.
- Finally I used my dot brush to add several dots, giving it a magical feel,
