Ayer les compartí un fanart de Levi bebé con Kuchel, su mamá.
Hoy, quisiera compartirles otro fanart de la infancia de Levi, esta vez con Kenny Ackerman.
Kenny tuvo un peso enorme en la infancia de Levi. No sólo lo salvó de morir de inanición al quedar abandonado en la misma habitación donde yacía su madre muerta, sino que lo crió durante los años vulnerables de su infancia.
Lo entrenó con lo que él sabía hacer: usar los puños y las armas para defenderse y usar la palabra para convencer a los demás. Una vez que Kenny sintió que había cumplido con su parte, se fue dejando a Levi a su suerte pero con la convicción de que el muchacho lograría sobrevivir con sus propios recursos.
Kenny fue lo más cercano a un padre que pudo tener Levi. Y creo que él así lo sintió porque cuando se enfrentó con Kenny, al momento de encontrarlo mal herido, al borde de la muerte y demandarle que le explicara cuál era la relación que había entre él y su madre había cierta ansiedad en Levi por conocer la verdad.
Al momento de contestar a la pregunta de Levi sobre la razón por la cual lo había abandonado, Kenny dijo que había sido porque no estaba preparado para ser padre de nadie. Yo creo que Kenny, a su manera, sí logró cumplir con ese rol: le dio a Levi lo necesario para vivir: techo, comida, ropa. Lo preparó para enfrentarse a la vida, le dio el conocimiento necesario para que pudiera resolver lo que se le pusiera al frente y cuando sintió que ya estaba listo, lo dejó libre para que formara su propia vida. ¿Acaso eso no es lo que hace un padre?
Así que en este fanart, quise reflejar lo que hubiese podido ser una escena con Kenny al momento de adoptar a Levi como su padre.
Usé brochas de lápices para el lineart y lápices acuarelables para el color. No quise hacer un fondo muy detallado en este boceto ya que quería que la atención se fijara en la escena entre Kenny y Levi.

Creo que Levi sí habría disfrutado tener a Kenny como padre. Tal vez no haya sido el más amable o el más amoroso pero sí fue la primera persona que lo ayudó cuando no tenía a nadie más con quién contar en el mundo.

Yesterday, I shared a fanart of baby Levi with Kuchel, his mom.
Today, I would like to share another fanart from Levi's childhood, this time with Kenny Ackerman.
Kenny had a huge impact on Levi's childhood. Not only did he save Levi from starving to death after being abandoned in the same room where his mother's corpse lay, but he also raised him during the vulnerable years of his childhood.
He trained Levi with what he knew best: using fists and weapons to defend himself and using words to convince others. Once Kenny felt he had done his part, he left Levi to his own devices but with the conviction that the boy would survive on his own.
Kenny was the closest thing to a father that Levi could have had. And I believe Levi felt this way because when he confronted Kenny, at the moment of finding him badly injured, on the brink of death, and demanding to know the relationship between him and his mother, there was a certain anxiety in Levi to know the truth.
When answering Levi's question about why he had abandoned him, Kenny said it was because he was not ready to be anyone's father. I believe that, in his own way, Kenny did fulfill that role: he gave Levi the necessities of life: shelter, food, clothes. He prepared him to face life, gave him the knowledge necessary to overcome whatever came his way, and when he felt Levi was ready, he set him free to form his own life. Isn't that what a father does?
So in this fanart, I wanted to reflect what a scene with Kenny at the moment of adopting Levi as his son might have looked like.
I used pencil brushes for the lineart and watercolor pencils for the color. I didn't want to make a very detailed background in this sketch because I wanted the focus to be on the scene between Kenny and Levi.

I believe Levi would have enjoyed having Kenny as a father. Maybe he wasn't the most kind or loving, but he was the first person to help Levi when he had no one else to turn to in the world.
