My student suddenly moved our class schedule from Saturday evening to Sunday morning, so I suddenly had free time last night. Since I got myself more free time, I decided to watch something.
I was conversing with Co-chan (Copilot) about anime and asked her to send me a list of Sci-Fi animated movies, and among her suggestions was Promare.
When I saw it on the list, I remembered someone told me to watch it, and it has been on my to-watch list for quite a while, too. And so, I did... let's talk about it!
NOTE: The photos I used are screenshots from the anime.
Thirty years before the current setting of the movie, some fire-wielding mutants suddenly appeared and burned a considerable part of the world and humanity. They are called "Burnish".
Back to the recent setting, there's a nation that thrived against the Burnish called Promepolis.
They have developed incredible technology against the Burnish. A team of firefighters called the "Burning Rescue" was also formed to stop the fire caused by the mutants and, of course, to rescue and save the citizens.
Among them is the enthusiastic Galo Thymos. He's the team's newest recruit and swore to do whatever he can to save people. His dedication is unparalleled since the Promepolis' leader, Kray Foresight, has saved him. It's kind of his way of giving back.
One day, a terrorist group called "Mad Burnish" wreaked havoc all over the nation. And of course, Galo's team immediately went to the scene to help.
There, Galo first encountered the Mad Burnish leader Lio Fotia. Since then, things have happened one after another, which have made Galo question the truth he once completely believed.

Above is the trailer of the said movie.
What I liked most was the fun and colorful animation style! It was so entertaining and amusing to watch, especially the fight scenes. The effects and the music really went well together!
I didn't have high expectations for the storyline, but it was actually better than I expected. Though I could predict the supposed plot twist, seeing it unfold alongside some backstories was still interesting.
The art style isn't my favorite, but it suits how they animated the film well, so it's all good. The movie was almost 2 hours long, but there weren't any boring moments. However, I wanted to know more about some of the characters.
Lucia is an intriguing and funny character. She's the mechanic for Burning Rescue and someone I would describe as a mad scientist. She creates most of the robots and weapons used by the team. Unfortunately, she didn't have many scenes. I really wanted to see more of her.
Another character I wanted to see more of was Remi. It's mostly for a personal reason... I'm a huge sucker for characters who look cool with glasses. hahah He's the vice president of the team. He's the smart, cool, and collected type. I wanted more of him, but his screen time was tooooooo few and short. T_T
Oh well!!! All in all, it was a good watch. But more than the story, I enjoyed the animation style. I'd be more than willing to watch it again!
Anyway, I'll end this here... I have an early class tomorrow, so I must get some zees. Thanks for reading and see you around! (^^,)/
