Hello~~ ^^ How are you everyone?
Here’s my drawing for the Splinterlands Art Contest. Today I decided to choose a card from the old splinterlands cards and chose “Lunakari Mistress” card. The features I really like about this character that I think is really amazing are the way her hair is flying in the air, it’s really making her look awesome and also her Egyptian dress style and most importantly her white eyes that is very captivating. I also love it that around her eyes is red. It emphasizes the eyes.

I started the portrait with a very quick sketch of a girl with very long hair as the hair is flying in the air just like the original card. I also drew her dress and accessory similar to the original art. Didn’t want to change it much because it looked great the way it was. After I finished the sketch, then it was time to color her skin first. And after shading a little I decided to color her dress because I wanted to see if the highlights are just in the right place so after highlighting her skin I went on coloring the accessory and addding details on it to make it shine and more detailed. I also shaded and highlighted her dress and then drew some lines because I didn’t want to leave it to stay simple.

After that, I colored her hair light blue and shaded with darker blue. Then I deleted the sketch line because it was too disturbing when I wanted to draw the hair strands.

In the end, I worked on the background. I just want it to leave to be very simple because I wanted the focus to be on the character’s hair and eyes because these two very the most remarkable features of Lunakari Mistress. But I also loved the green magic that she created in the original art so I decided to give it a try and see how the portrait would look like with some green magic surrounding her. With the very first lines I decided to keep it. It’s not similar to what she has in the card because I didn’t drew her hands and with that style of magic it wouldn’t turn out very well.

When the drawing was getting completed, and I added the final little highlights on her lips, an idea popped up to draw some tears that is falling down his face. I didn’t want it to be some normal tears like we humans so I decided to make it red like her tears is made up from blood :)) I don’t where this kind of ideas come from but it just made her look cool. What’s your thoughts on it? I think it matched her very well and made the expression completed.

This drawing took around 4 hours to get finished and about the brushes I used for this portrait. My brushes are often the same and the ones I usually use are: soft and hard air brush for shading and highlighting and for the details it depends. To add the little details on the lips and eyes I use hard air brush and for the hair I use a hair brush but I draw the single strands with a light brush. I used the light brush to make the hair look very detailed. As for the magic I also use a light brush.
This is one of my favorite Splinterlands artwork that I worked on so far. I hope you also liked it as much as I did.
Now let’s see the progress ~
