[En/Esp] Sketchbook Chapter 17: The Shamaness

Hello, dear creative community! As i continue to fill this little art book little by little, almost approaching the end of this mini challenge, today i share with you a new chapter, a new page full of ink and color. ____ >Hola, Querida comunidad creativa! Mientras sigo llenando poco a poco este pequeño libro de arte, ya casi acercándome al final de este mini reto, les comparto hoy un nuevo capítulo, una nueva página llena de tinta y color.

Almost automatically i opened my Sketchbook and began to trace a mysterious figure after a few minutes analyzing the emptiness of this page. I love how surprisingly, without any warning...These creatures emerge from the farthest reaches of my unconscious, from some plane or parallel dimension of the imagination. A female creature with a dark and ancestral air. A kind of witch and shamaness guided by the spirits of the moon. ____ >Casi de forma automática abrí mi Sketchbook y comencé a trazar una figura misteriosa luego de unos minutos analizando el vacío de esta página. Me encanta como de forma sorpresiva,sin avisar... Estas criaturas emergen desde lo más remoto de mi inconsciente, desde algún plano o dimensión paralela de la imaginación. Una criatura femenina con un aire oscuro y ancestral. Una especie de bruja y Chamana guiada por los espíritus de la luna.

Although i don't always outline the drawings, i admit that outlining is one of my favorite parts. It becomes a few seconds of concentration and absolute calm. It is like a meditation, the nervous system surrenders without realizing it and yields to the slow and controlled flow of the breath. ____ >Aunque no siempre delineo los dibujos, admito que delinear es una de mis partes favoritas. Ya que se convierte en unos segundos de concentración y calma absoluta. Es tal cual una meditación, el sistema nervioso se entrega sin darse cuenta y cede ante el flujo lento y controlado de la respiración.

By this time, i was just letting myself flow in this river of ink, as i still didn't have a concrete plan of what this new drawing would look like. So i kept adding a dense base with just black ink and then i would see what other details to add. ____ >Para este momento, sólo me dejaba fluir en este río de tinta, pues todavía no tenía un plan concreto de cómo sería este nuevo dibujo. Así que seguí agregando una base densa sólo con tinta negra y luego vería qué otros detalles agregar.

For this drawing i used calibrated black ink pens, alcohol markers and acrylics. After i finished creating all the dense and dark base with ink, i practically didn't leave much margin or space to add much color or any other fancy technique, i only wanted to add in the small white spaces, touches of color with alcohol markers with two skin tones and a blue. And for the final highlight the figure with blue lines with an acrylic marker. ____ >Para este dibujo usé bolígrafos calibrados de tinta negra, marcadores de alcohol y acrílicos. Luego que terminé de crear toda la base densa y oscura con tinta, prácticamente no dejé mucho margen ni espacio para agregar mucho color ni otra técnica rebuscada, sólo quise agregar en los pequeños espacios en blanco, toques de color con marcadores de alcohol con dos tonos piel y un azúl. Y para el final resaltar la figura con líneas azules con un marcador acrílico.

I also wanted to keep that initial idea of simplicity in terms of materials and colors. I wanted to focus more on the details, but without falling into the excess of wanting to use everything i find in my pencil case, because i admit that usually happens to me a lot, every time i draw something i want to complicate it more and more. I think that's one of the things i like most about sketchbooks or art books because you can relax doing anything, simple or complex but without so much perfectionism, or make studies of possible more complex works that you would like to do in larger and more professional media. I liked my new creature with that ancestral air, it reminds me a bit of that indigenous countenance and tribal tattoos that i like a lot. I like that each page is different and has a peculiar touch. ____ >También quise conservar esa idea inicial de simplicidad en cuanto a materiales y colores. Enfocarme más en los detalles, pero sin caer en el exceso de querer usar todo lo que encuentre en mi cartuchera, porque admito que me suele pasar mucho, cada vez que dibujo algo quiero complicarlo cada vez más. Creo que esa es una de las cosas que más me gustan de los sketchbooks o libros de arte porque puedes relajarte haciendo cualquier cosa, simple o complejo pero sin tanto perfeccionismo, o hacer estudios de posibles obras más complejas que te gustaría hacer en medios más grandes y profesionales. Me gustó mi nueva criatura con ese aire ancestral, me recuerda un poco a ese semblante indígena y tatuajes tribales que me gustan mucho. Me gusta que cada página sea diferente y tenga un toque peculiar.
