There are trips we dream about for years and, for some reason, always seem to be put on hold. For me, Mochima was one of those pending destinations: a paradise I saw in photos and made me sigh✨ This time, thanks to my aunt's venture, EPA El Tour (a small travel agency), my family and I embarked on the adventure. The plan was a team effort: my parents, my sister, cousins, and aunts. And if there's one thing I love about traveling with them, it's that laughter and good energy are never in short supply; it's like having the perfect playlist to accompany every moment. Before leaving, as with any trip I take, I was filled with excitement and curiosity, especially for this place, since it would be my first time exploring this part of the country. And let me tell you: it was totally worth the wait✨

Hay viajes que soñamos desde hace años y que, por alguna razón, siempre parecen quedar en pausa. Para mí, Mochima era uno de esos destinos pendientes: un paraíso que veía en fotos y me hacía suspirar✨ Esta vez, gracias al emprendimiento de mi tía: EPA El Tour (una pequeña agencia de viajes), mi familia y yo nos lanzamos a la aventura. El plan fue en equipo: mis padres, mi hermana, primos y tías. Y si algo me encanta de viajar con ellos es que las risas y la buena energía nunca faltan; es como llevar una playlist perfecta que acompaña cada momento. Antes de salir, igual que en cualquier viaje que hago, estaba llena de emoción y curiosidad, especialmente para este lugar, dado que sería mi primera vez explorando esta parte del país. Y déjenme decirles: valió completamente la espera✨

The journey to Isla de Plata🌊

We left from Plaza Venezuela, Caracas, heading for Anzoátegui State. It was approximately a 4.5-hour road trip, ending at one of the docks in Mochima National Park🌊 There, a boat was waiting for us that would take us directly to Isla de Plata in just 5 minutes🪸 We arrived at 7 a.m., just as the sun was rising. The sea and mountains met on the horizon, illuminated by the first rays of sunlight. The pier was already crowded, but we managed to board the boat quickly. Thanks to that, we were among the first to arrive and enjoyed the island practically empty for a while. I'll confess something: I can't swim😬 I have respect (and fear) for the sea, even though I'm fascinated by it. I always ask for a life jacket, because yes, I'm that friend who clings to any boat as if it were the Titanic, but I still enjoy the adrenaline rush.

El viaje hacia Isla de Plata🌊

Salimos desde Plaza Venezuela, Caracas, rumbo al Estado Anzoátegui. Fueron aproximadamente 4 horas y media de viaje en carretera, que terminaron en uno de los muelles del Parque Nacional Mochima🌊 Ahí nos esperaba la lancha que, en apenas 5 minutos, nos haría llegar directo a Isla de Plata🪸 Llegamos a las 7am, justo con el amanecer. El mar y las montañas se unían en el horizonte, iluminados por los primeros rayos del sol. El muelle ya estaba lleno de gente, pero logramos subir rápido la lancha; gracias a eso, fuimos de los primeros en llegar y disfrutamos de la isla prácticamente vacía por un rato. Les confieso algo: no sé nadar😬 Le tengo respeto (y miedo) al mar, aunque me fascina. Siempre pido chaleco salvavidas, porque sí, soy esa amiga que se aferra como si cualquier bote fuera el Titanic, pero igual disfruto esa adrenalina.

My impressions of Isla de Plata🐠

The first thing I noticed when I arrived on the island was that there were no waves. The water was crystal clear, calm, and full of little fish swimming alongside you. It was paradise, even for those of us who can't swim. The water was shallow, like a natural pool created by nature itself. The sand was white and soft, and the island was surrounded by vegetation, with a small mountain that invited you to climb up and admire the whole panorama. I confess that when it comes to beaches, I always prefer islands to coasts: the water is calmer, clearer, and has that charm that instantly captivates you.

Mis impresiones de Isla de Plata🐠

Lo primero que me dí cuenta al llegar a la Isla, es que no tenía nada de olas. Agua totalmente cristalina, calmada y llena de pececitos nadando a tu lado. Un paraíso hasta para las que todavía no sabemos nadar. El nivel del agua era poco profunda, como una piscina natural hecha por la naturaleza misma. La arena era blanca y suave, y alrededor la isla está cerrada por la vegetación, con una pequeña montaña que invitaba a subir para admirar todo el panorama. Confieso que cuando se trata de playas, siempre prefiero las islas a las costas: el agua es más tranquila, más clara y tiene ese encanto que te atrapa al instante.

The beach experience🌊

The beach welcomed us with hunger, so the first thing we did was figure out what to eat (priorities😂). Empanadas for breakfast and, later, a lunch of tuna fingers, salad, tostones, arepas, and French fries... everything was simply delicious😇 Although I didn't do any extra activities, there are plenty of things to do: jet skis, extreme sports, and even dolphin watching tours (I didn't get to do that one, but I know I'll do it someday🥺✨) At first, the atmosphere was calm, almost intimate, but after midday the yachts arrived with loud music and the calm was somewhat lost. Even so, it was a special day: amid laughter, conversations, and connecting with my family, I felt like I was reconnecting with nature and my country. I was happy and amazed by the beauty of these landscapes, which remind me how lucky I am to live here ♥️

La experiencia en la playa🌊

La playa nos recibió con hambre, así que lo primero fue resolver la comida (prioridades😂). Empanadas para el desayuno y, más tarde, un almuerzo de deditos de atún, ensalada, tostones, arepas y papas fritas... todo estaba simplemente delicioso😇 Aunque no hice actividades extra, hay variedad de cosas por hacer: motos de agua, deportes extremos y hasta paseos para ver los delfines (ese me quedó pendiente, pero sé que algún día lo cumpliré🥺✨) Al inicio el ambiente era tranquilo, casi íntimo, pero después del mediodía llegaron los yates con música a todo volumen y se perdió un poco la calma. Aun así, fue un día especial: entre risas, conversaciones y la conexión con mi familia, sentí que me reencontraba con la naturaleza y con mi país. Fui feliz y quedé maravillada con la belleza de estos paisajes que me recuerdan lo afortunada que soy de vivir aquí ♥️

Finally, Mochima National Park🌊 is located between the states of Sucre and Anzoátegui. This park offers tourists a variety of attractions, including white sand beaches, reefs, mangrove forests, and mountains covered in vegetation. As I mentioned earlier, you can find dolphins, turtles, and various birds here. My visit to Isla de Plata was an experience that reaffirmed my love for Venezuela. It is a reminder that, even in difficult times, our country still has places of indescribable beauty. I hope that more people will discover and appreciate these natural treasures we have, and that, like me, they will fall in love with the magic that the Venezuelan Caribbean has to offer.

Para cerrar, el Parque Nacional Mochima🌊 se encuentra ubicado entre los Estados Sucre y Anzoátegui. Este parque ofrece diferentes lugares para los turistas, playas de arena blanca, arrecifes, bosques de manglares y montañas llena de vegetación. Como ya mencioné, pueden encontrar delfines, tortugas y diversas aves. Mi visita a Isla de Plata fue una experiencia que reafirmó mi amor por Venezuela. Es un recordatorio de que, incluso en tiempos difíciles, nuestro país guarda rincones de belleza indescriptible. Espero que más personas descubran y valoren estos tesoros naturales que tenemos, y que, al igual que yo, se enamoren de la magia que ofrece el Caribe venezolano🩵🌊
