Lo confieso, no me encontraba preparado para la sorpresa. En primer término, nuestro largo periplo ha estado lleno de muchas "primeras veces" y ya nos encontramos en un período más bien de reflexión, de todas aquellas experiencias primerizas. Así que cuando nuestro hijo nos comunicó el lunes pasado que tenía algo para nosotros, ayer Miércoles, comenzó un período de especulaciones de parte nuestra.

La curiosidad es innata del ser humano, así que las preguntas comenzaron con el fin de adivinar. Y estuvimos dos días intentando averiguar la sorpresa. Nuestros hijos trabajan duro para salir adelante en un país extraño, sus ingresos están acorde con lo suficiente para sobrellevar sus gastos y una vida más o menos digna. Así las cosas, no creíamos que fuera algo opulento o que comprometiera su presupuesto. Mayor sorpresa cuando condujo su vehículo hacia las afueras de Orlando.

La compañía de vuelos ofrece 10 rutas para sobrevolar la ciudad de Orlando y los tiempos de vuelo van desde los 4 minutos hasta la media hora, dependiendo el trazado que escoja el turista. Nosotros tomamos la ruta seis la cual ofrece un sobrevuelo de 20 minutos por encima de los parques de atracciones de la ciudad, a excepción del Disney World Complex porque su espacio aéreo está cerrado desde el fatídico suceso de las torres gemelas.

El precio de la ruta es de US$ 155 por persona y la verdad, parece un precio justo por la experiencia de tener otra perspectiva de una ciudad. Y el atardecer fue algo sobrecogedor mientras las aspas del aparato giraban y oíamos por los audífonos las descripciones de las vistas en cada espacio sobrevolado por parte del piloto del helicóptero. Las personas de la empresa son muy profesionales en lo que hacen y con las explicaciones dadas sientes que te encuentras en buenas manos.

¿Lo más impresionante? Las vistas sobre el Epcot Center y sobre el complejo deportivo ESPN, donde se jugó la mayor parte de la temporada 2020-2021 de la NBA. Desde el cielo todo es diferente, en avión se ve algo, pero en helicóptero todo es más detallado y te sientes humilde ante la grandeza del ingenio humano. Una sorpresa de nuestro hijo en los postreros momentos de nuestro largo periplo. Algo así como la guinda del pastel. Si tiene usted alguna vez la oportunidad de hacer un tour en este tipo de aeronave, no la desaproveche. Hasta la próxima entrega.
