Aveiro city Portugal

Hello my hive friends,

Today, I will take you with me on my tour through the city of Aveiro in Portugal. I visited this city about 25 years ago but I didn't get further than the beach and the local pub. Back then, I was visiting some friends who were having a sailing competition here. So now it's time to visit the rest of the city.

I parked my van at a camper parking next to the train station. That was so close to the city centre and there were toilets at the station. So it's an ideal camper spot.

From the parking, I walked through the station, and there I spotted some cow art.

And outside the station, there was this awesome building. It was the old train station building. They have transformed it into a visiting centre of the city. I got myself a nice city map from here.

I didn't take the main road towards the city centre, I thought it was too busy. It is high season right now, so there are so many people everywhere. I followed the back streets. There are some nice buildings too. And it is way quieter there.

Soon, I stumbled on this little church and ofcours I had to go in. The building was founded in the middle of the 17th century. It was a small church but a nice one.

I like this picture. The contrast between the 300+ year old building and the apartments in the back. New meets old.

When I arrived at the city centre I immediately regretted my decision to come here. So many people and screaming children 😅 I learned my lesson and will not travel in high season anymore.

In a couple of places throughout the city, there are these ribons in the street.

I quickly walked away from here, trying to find some quiet places. I ended up in the harbour along the nature reserve on the coastline. It was hot and the middle of the day, and here there was hardly any shadow. But the brees from the see and water felt very nice.

End I came across some streetart too. Some of them were not really interesting art to make a post about it in the street art community.

But when I came across a viaduct, the art was pretty cool and well word to show you guys. Some artists here did work on it with passion. It looked like a fresh job because it was still so colourful.

This portrait reminds me of my jong days at my grandparents' house. They had a painting of this buy on the wall. Orobebly many people gad this one hanging. It's a famous one, I think.
