Hello, friends, world travelers, and community members, greetings! Wherever you are on the globe, I hope you are doing well and having a pleasant time with your loved ones and near ones. Last year we traveled to Budapest, and it has been almost 1 year now. it is a nice city, many things to explore, some of which I posted already. some other attractions were left to post.
The tower we climbed.
A small entrance to the tower is marked in red.
Today I will explore my adventure climbing tower of the St. Mattias Church. When we had the option either we could either buy a ticket for Fishermen's Bastion, around 10-20 meters, or climb the church tower, around 60 meters197 feet, and 197 steps to the top. The ticket is around 5 euros. The receptionist said it is tough because the stairs are very steep and winding upwards. My husband was a little worried about my back, but when I preferred to climb the tower, he was very happy and encouraged me. Because the stairs are so narrow, all traffic must go either up or down during set times. they had a certain time and groups to bring in. The Matthias Church Tower, a prominent historical landmark in Budapest, is an architectural masterpiece that reflects the city's rich heritage. Located in the heart of the Castle District, this stunning Gothic structure is part of the Matthias Church, known for its colorful roof tiles and intricate details. The tower reaches a height of 80 meters. But we are allowed up to 60 meters. I think a maximum group of 20 people can be allowed at a time, first-come, first-served basis.
The stairs are congested, very narrow. there is no room to pass two people. It only fits one person at a time, so no one can pass each other. Also, they go around the pillar in a spiral and have very little ventilation.
As well, there is a small gallery/balcony on the top of the tower. There is also a small group of people fit, where we can see an overview of Budapest. I was very excited, but as soon as I climbed 40 stairs, I was tired. I had taken it easy and slow.
After 60 stairs, they have a small passage room, where they have a small museum where we can see those artifacts. The guide explains the history in short, slow down our breath, and wait for those people who were already up on the top and coming down. Only this area can fit several visitors. It helped me. After the previous group went down, we started our climb back, and until we finished all the stairs, my lungs were totally craving for breathing fresh air. It took a while, and after getting fresh air, I was back in my energy. and when I started looking around, I thought this adventure was worth a lot for me.

All these views from the top of the church tower were incredible. You will be able to see everything from Parliament to St. Stephen's Basilica to the various bridges. Most interestingly, you will see the tiled roof of Matthias Church. Worth it! offering panoramic views of the Buda side of the city and the Danube River that are truly breathtaking. As you ascend the tower, you'll be captivated by the exquisite craftsmanship and the historical significance of the artifacts housed within. Thank you for stopping by and reading my post.
