I am happy whenever I have a chance to explore the area with my family. We usually go to some places that are close to our city, Belgrade, and sometimes we go a long way. We are often surprised how many places we have never visited and they are so close.
On a recent family outing, we ventured to Titel to experience both history and nice landscapes. Our first destination was the Kalvarija viewpoint, located on Titelski breg (Titel's hill), above Titel town.
This spot holds deep roots in time originally part of an 11th-century Augustinian monastery fortified against invasions. That's what we found out there.
And what we also discovered is that it was destroyed several times during wars and rebuilt. Only these walls are left of it, which today bear witness to the past.
We spent some time there, enjoying the stunning views of the confluence of the Begej and Tisa rivers and Titel's surroundings.
While we were up there, we heard the noise of children from the direction of the coast, and we realized that there must be a beach down there.
We went down to the river. The atmosphere there was completely different - laughter, water, and play replaced the silence of Kalvarija.
Titel gave us both peace and joy and we stayed a little by the river so that our children could play on the playground on the coast. We didn't bathe, but they didn't miss the opportunity to get their feet wet. 😊
On the way back, we passed through the town center and there we found peace and quiet again. Next to the river, this place is definitely the liveliest.
Thank you for reading.
