Walking down San Rafael Street, which houses Havana Boulevard, can be an intense experience. The August sun is blazing, and the constant bustle of this street makes me feel a little dizzy. But that day, something different stopped me in my tracks. Right at the intersection of Industrias and Consulado Streets, the entrance to the Collage Habana Gallery appeared before me, like an unexpected oasis. It was accompanied by a phrase that pierced me: "I was my own worst abyss," signed by Cuban artist Jesús Lara Sotelo.

I couldn't resist entering. What I found was a beautiful exhibition by the artist, who showed us pieces and transformed the tour into an intimate, visceral, and poetic journey. The works will be on display until September and span 36 years of creation by Lara Sotelo, a multidisciplinary artist who has transformed his life into artistic material. Painting, sculpture, ceramics, installation, printmaking... his works reveal his own shadows and redemptions, many accompanied by phrases and poems that reveal his soul.
