Let me show you today the cute village of Cabrerets in the Lot department of southwestern France š«š·
We stopped here on our travels back north for a break from driving, which included a drink and some ice cream on the first day of June this year.
We will walk from the parking area past the château (castle) and Le Moulin (mill) de Cabrerets. While we walk along the river le Célé.
Come along on this short walk with me today to discover this cute small village.
Little update about my health at the end, if you are curious why I havenāt posted much the last week⦠or just skip it if you don't want to know.

Date : 1 June 2025
The Photographs in this post are taken with my iPhone.
I will follow the time stamps on them. So it looks like you are experiencing my adventures on this walk to #discover everything what I saw, like the little #details seen through my eyes.
Location of the village Cabrerets (Lot department) we find on the following screenshots of Google Maps :
As you can see the village is truly smallā¦
Zooming out further we see its location in France:
Letās start at the parking area. One can only stop here no overnight parkingā¦
Our view is the first photo above šš» the chĆ¢teau de Cabrerets. I will show more of it when we walk back later.
The walking path, read⦠walking along the road and a bit further a side road / path to wander right next to the river makes the walk easier.
We see walking towards the river down this sign:
I really took the photo because of the hand. It looked cool. It has information on it from the Mill.
As we walk further we see part of this mill. Moulin de Cabrerets.
Peeking over the edge we see the water flow and arches of the mill.
The mill isnāt in operation anymore but the building looks stunning.
Our view to the left side of the mill along the river. The cliff side is stunning. All the trees and greenery that goes all the way to the water side.
Our view towards the right. We see the mill and a beach where one can sunbath and swim in the river. Some young children were playing in the river and sliding down a stone canal filled with water next to the waterfall. They had loads of fun⦠you see the exit far left in my photo. (Didn't want to capture the boys in the photo)
As we walk back up towards the main road I look back and see the château. Such a beautiful building.
Only a few cars passed us by this day. I can imagine it will be busier during holidays.
More information about the castle you can find here: Chateau de Cabrerets in English. Also here on Wikipedia: Chateau de Cabrerets.
Wandering further we see a bakery and a hotel with restaurant. We decided to go inside for a drink and some ice creams afterwards.
The view on the outside terrace at the back:
Just stunning. It over looks the river high above. This is looking towards the left side. We see a swimming pool. It is an accommodation next to the hotel.
Zooming out a bit further. This is such a magical spot. High above the river. I can imagine when the sun shines it is even more beautiful.
On our way back towards the parking area. I spot this wooden elephant or is it a mammoth On the side of a building. So cute. Great artwork.
Wandering further we are getting closer towards the castle again. I capture a few more photos.
If you are ever in this area. Do stop at this beautiful spot. A nice walk along the river gives you some highlights of the cute village of Cabrerets.
Little updateā¦
I havenāt been feeling well at all since last week. At first I couldnāt really pinpoint why, and I thought I just was overworked restoring and painting the kitchen floor (sitting/ crouching down for 3 weeks on the floor) and doing other things that needed tackling around and in the cabin. Like packing boxes for our country move.
Maybe the stress got too much lately with the van being in the workshop for major repairs that we didnāt expected or even noticed. Definitely didnāt calculate for a bill that is going over ā¬2k,- it will eat far into our moving country cost. š«£
I got more tired and aching everywhere and my back was playing up big time too. (My back is my weak spot tbh.)
Keep in mind my health isnāt great to start with. I do have an autoimmune disease that reminds me everyday it is there. So my immune system is hardly working the last years, especially since Covid. I get very quickly something when somebody is sick around me and it takes weeks (4 to 6 weeks) to recover. Even just passing a stranger by in a store getting groceries can be enough for me to get ill.
Last Wednesday I started noticing my lymph nodes were swelling up and one in particular started to get painful. It grew and grew. Got red hot and about 7,5 cm long.
The next day it wasnāt looking good at all and finally Friday morning that lymph node/ gland decided to burst / rupture. š¤ All within 3 days. It left a big hole⦠luckily I had a first aid kit to clean the wound and tend to it further.
Crazy to think a lymph node can actually burst. š³ It is rare, but it can happen apparently. My body / immune system just couldn't handle it all anymore. So I am still taking it slowly as it did immobilise me for days. Luckily it looks like it is healing though, just very slowly. ā¤ļøāš©¹
I just need to take it very slow and gently the next weeks. No renovating further sadly⦠so our timeline is shifting. Letās see the next days⦠how it goes.
