Good morning hivers, how are you? The Easter weekend is approaching and we are all very busy with festive preparations. Today I went to visit a square in my hometown, Piazza del Carmine with a beautiful little park and a church dedicated to the Madonna del Carmine, it is a square that can be reached easily on foot and is surrounded by historic buildings and pretty places, it is very close to the center but unfortunately it is not a place of the most touristic in fact with dismay I found the church and almost all the places closed, a real shame because this square should definitely be enhanced! However, the first thing I wanted to visit was the park, unfortunately the weather was rainy so I could not sit on the benches that were really nice hidden inside small hedges, a place that if the weather is nice is perfect for eating on the benches. The park interested me because there is a statue dedicated to Giuseppe Mazzini a very well-known historical figure in the city, a politician, philosopher of the Risorgimento to whom various squares and sculptures are dedicated. This square is inside the old city walls and the garden is raised from the street and is well kept. There is also a fountain which unfortunately was empty.

Hoy fui a visitar una plaza en mi ciudad natal, Piazza del Carmine con un pequeño parque precioso y una iglesia dedicada a la Madonna del Carmine, es una plaza a la que se puede llegar fácilmente a pie y está rodeada de edificios históricos y lugares bonitos, está muy cerca del centro pero lamentablemente no es un lugar de los más turísticos de hecho con consternación encontré la iglesia y casi todos los lugares cerrados, una verdadera lástima porque esta plaza definitivamente debería ser realzada! Sin embargo lo primero que quería visitar era el parque, desgraciadamente el tiempo estaba lluvioso por lo que no pude sentarme en los bancos que estaban realmente bonitos escondidos dentro de pequeños setos, un lugar que si el tiempo acompaña es perfecto para comer en los bancos. El parque me interesó porque hay una estatua dedicada a Giuseppe Mazzini, un personaje histórico muy conocido en la ciudad, político y filósofo del Risorgimento a quien están dedicadas varias plazas y esculturas. Esta plaza se encuentra dentro de las antiguas murallas de la ciudad y el jardín está elevado respecto a la calle y está bien cuidado. También hay una fuente que lamentablemente estaba vacía.

It is a church that goes around a street that leads to another small chapel dedicated to the Immaculate Mary and created by an old Capuchin convent, this chapel is very simple and has not undergone much restoration. Instead, the buildings adjacent to the church have all been recently renovated and are truly magnificent in a very elegant style that emphasize the beauty of the square. Unfortunately, this square suffered a lot of damage when a few years ago there was a windstorm and the pine trees in the square fell, risking destroying parts of the park. To date, in my opinion, it is one of the most beautiful squares in the city. I only hope to have the opportunity to see the church from the inside because I was very sorry not to be able to do so!
There are many places in Pistoia that really deserve more attention for example near this square there is a garden called flying garden with magnificent architecture and games for children in Montessori style that obviously was closed and with very limited access hours a real shame for a city that would like to attract more tourists, I hope that my hometown changes its tourism policies and makes churches and places of interest more accessible.
En esta plaza se encuentra la iglesia dedicada a la Madonna del Carmine, una iglesia de estilo barroco iniciada alrededor de 1200 por un convento carmelita y luego restaurada en 1700 en estilo barroco, los interiores se dicen que son muy ricos de hecho lamento no haberlos visto, pero el exterior también es muy hermoso, se dice que en el siglo XVIII era una de las iglesias más bellas y frecuentadas de la ciudad después de la catedral. Es una iglesia que da la vuelta a una calle que conduce a otra pequeña capilla dedicada a María Inmaculada y creada a partir de un antiguo convento de capuchinos, esta capilla es muy sencilla y no ha sufrido mucha restauración. En cambio, los edificios adyacentes a la iglesia han sido recientemente renovados y son verdaderamente magníficos, en un estilo muy elegante que enfatiza la belleza de la plaza. Lamentablemente, esta plaza sufrió muchos daños cuando hace unos años hubo un vendaval y los pinos de la plaza cayeron, amenazando con destruir partes del parque. Hasta el día de hoy, en mi opinión, es una de las plazas más bonitas de la ciudad. ¡Sólo espero tener la oportunidad de ver la iglesia desde dentro porque me dio mucha pena no poder hacerlo!
Hay muchos lugares en Pistoia que realmente merecen más atención por ejemplo cerca de esta plaza hay un jardín llamado flying garden con una magnífica arquitectura y juegos para niños en estilo Montessori que obviamente estaba cerrado y con horarios de acceso muy limitados una verdadera pena para una ciudad que quisiera atraer a más turistas, espero que mi ciudad natal cambie sus políticas turísticas y haga más accesibles las iglesias y los lugares de interés.
