That was very much necessary to return to the state of calm and relaxation.
After so much chaos in this month, last week, we visited Satapada to explore the beauty of Chilika Lake, the largest brackish water lagoon of Asia, sprawling over an area of around 1100 square kilometers. This trip was on cards since last two years, as the Chef of our favorite restaurant always invited us to his resort that he has newly built. It's his home town and he has built a resort there, to provide livelihood to his people residing in the village, contributing to a greater cause.
After reaching Satapada, these local boats are the only means for people to go to their village, carrying everything. Satapada is famous for Irrawaddy dolphins at my place and there is a govt boating facility to provide ride to tourists, but that's a limited travel for a hour, with very high charges.
Over the last few years, we have developed a very close bonding with the Master Chef and he assured to be present personally and take us to places creating some unforgettable memories of life. He has his own private boat in which he came to pick up us.
After unloading all our luggage in his boat, I kept the car at a safe place where he has arrangements to keep for few days. In the mean time he picked snacks and drinks for us for the best water trip of our life.
It was a little more than a hour trip in his boat with loud music, that triggered my alpha brainwaves, instantly activating the parasympathetic nervous system, bringing me to the state of calm and relaxation. I was so tense with Dad's hospitalization and follow up, but by the time we reached the destination, my appearance changed.
We were lucky to see the Dolphins welcoming us in the trip - it was literally difficult to capture them on frame because unlike common dolphins, these Irrawaddy dolphins are shy in nature and do not engage in acrobatic spins.
You can probably feel why the sensory nature of this beautiful place helped me to melt away stress and reduce anxiety.
And they were really excited, enjoying every moment of the ride, while I was standing on the corner of the boat without any fear (even though I don't know swimming).
We asked the boy to go to the corner on his own, but he feared a lot, so the Chef gave him his hand and took there.
But once he crossed that barrier and sat there, he just loved and enjoyed the serenity of the place - everything lies on the other side of fear and travel like this helps a lot to boost their confidence.
It was as if he was sitting on this mini Titanic.
As we reached near his island, the color of the water was more natural, probably because of less movements.
And you can clearly see the effect on me - on arriving at his island resort, a very special welcome was done by his people - more to come soon.....
