Today is a special day. It's National Catalan Day and I got out of the house for the first time since surgery. I felt quite good and decided to just go out for a walk and take some pictures of the small village where we live. Today's outdoor day was literally crossing the house door to get out. The weather was perfect and although slightly hot, you could already feel the autumn coming. The photo shows one of the ancient defense towers used to watch for pirates coming from the north of Africa.
Here's another view from the north facing the sea. Every once in a while there are live concerts from some of the students from the village music school.
This is one of the most popular walking streets, which leads to the sea. You can see the church tower at the top.

At the bottom of the street is the ancient taberna "Espinaler" famous for its sauce, local canned seafood, and vermouth. They used to be only local but now export some of their products to the USA.
Down here is the city hall.
One of the town museums is an old "Indian" house whose descendants donated to the city. Indian houses are the name given to those who left the village to go to America and became rich. They are called "Indianos" as they thought they were going to India instead of America. Most of them built nice houses after becoming rich in the 1800s
