Hello, dear friends!
First of all, I want to thank you for appreciating my posts. As I’ve told you, I really enjoy sharing these places that I love so much and making them known because unfortunately, to many people around the world, these places remain unknown and far from the typical tourist path.
In fact, just a few days ago, I booked accommodation because I was in Tuscany for work, near Monticchiello, which is a charming village in the municipality of Pienza, definitely a well-known place in the world, especially because they make an excellent Tuscan Pecorino cheese. This village is located in the beautiful Val d'Orcia, which, as you well know, has been a UNESCO World Heritage site for several years. This time, however, I did a very different exploration. I had just arrived and left my luggage at my accommodation, then I went for a walk as the sun was setting. I must say, this place stirred up such strong emotions in me. It’s true that visiting these places at different times of the day can really give you different emotions; this is, let's say, my personal opinion.
I was very impressed, and in my opinion, it’s a very evocative place that I recommend seeing if you happen to be in the area. Also, you should think that we’re about 60 km from Siena. This beautiful walk, illuminated by soft lights, is, in my opinion, truly beautiful because it leads you toward one of the towers that probably once surrounded this place. In fact, there are still some remnants of the ancient walls.
Although this place is of Roman origin, it actually developed in the 13th century during the medieval period. But I have to say, these lights placed in the right spots by the local administration, with their soft glow, really create a beautiful atmosphere.
For me, it was a wonderful exploration, a village I had never visited before, even though I had passed by this area several times. And even though you can see in the photos that there’s practically no one around, that’s probably what makes these places even more beautiful. So, I highly recommend that if you’re near Pienza, which is a touristy place often visited, you should check out this small village just 8 km away, which I believe is worth visiting.
I hope, as usual, that you’ve appreciated my photos. I hope, as usual, you can really visit this place. I’ll see you in my next post, and I wish you all a great day!
