The [Fife Coastal Path](https://fifecoastandcountrysidetrust.co.uk/walks/fife-coastal-path/) in Scotland runs from Kincardine in the Firth of Forth and then goes up to Newburgh in the Firth of Tay and goes through a whole host of quaint wee villages and along some gorgeous coastline. Every so often I will walk on this section and I was here a couple of weeks ago. ![burtisland view from ruined house on beach.jpg](https://files.peakd.com/file/peakd-hive/tengolotodo/EqquwxbAT6NvoY7u7zy9R83rUTCP6TLwttnnPj31MJ54mZyGUw5LsKdHTWk7MFukXsa.jpg) ### I mean how gorgeous is that view? Today we are on the path around the village of Burntisland where I used to live. Please note that ALL of the photographs that are in this article have been taken by my with my Canon PowerShot HS70 bridge camera. So let's put on our walking shoes and head off, oh yes don't forget your water! ![burntisland holiday homes bay.jpg](https://files.peakd.com/file/peakd-hive/tengolotodo/EqjXi5SyBXQ8MgJVyS5wfrMgYd4h7Ht3sm8JBe6N86KbQBpz6TfTT8PQ9jQ5TWBwt3M.jpg) This is Burntisland bay, the headland leads to Kinghorn, I came via road which runs parallel to the beach which you will see in the next couple of pictures. ![image.png](https://files.peakd.com/file/peakd-hive/tengolotodo/EqqtTtSA22qoYcdcqpWXyHeFLiwA3YDeLTfsFHAuAi8aB556PWiVo6K7dBqSmbDw6MC.jpg) This is the bay and has a great curving beach which is popular in the summer. ![Burntisland from the beach aug 2022.jpg](https://files.peakd.com/file/peakd-hive/tengolotodo/EonmzzUVJSsecnBotPALo5vc6HYTuDdZzs2N1TZQn82c6QDoZKb6hmN6YM8WdjqqASv.jpg) In front of the church you will see the local double decker bus. We use to have a coastal service every twenty minutes but they cut that back to every thirty minutes! ![burntisland church from beach.jpg](https://files.peakd.com/file/peakd-hive/tengolotodo/Eoc7zomVCvZXa1feufGVddTCRMaoyoHJF8oA2Y6f3WBHk9up36YD43WBtLMDjfNuSTV.jpg) There is a dive school and a little boatyard here. ![image.png](https://files.peakd.com/file/peakd-hive/tengolotodo/Ep1Wsnd8dF33oSTNMGT36KwpFvvhYgHS5Mc73aL7UR5yv3gPCE9yh1x1cZtRp2DoegD.jpg) ### Can you spot the bridges? Some prizes if you know how many there are and their names, clue is of course that we are on the Firth of Forth! ![burntisland speedboat dry land.jpg](https://files.peakd.com/file/peakd-hive/tengolotodo/Eou9kNGUGi3k8T2AGnRhjYHcKnkuzZAwzsM8gYWxPAAq6u13Mxb2ADqgsjviFwGbXzG.jpg) You can either walk on the beach or via paths to the back and this alleyway connects them. ![image.png](https://files.peakd.com/file/peakd-hive/tengolotodo/EpXJTXrp5epVZr8xkz2XEXLBzKnaVfPjtUqpyqnqMzBJZCeZAfU9uLz3Qo3QGy99gfV.jpg) You have a choice of paths to take, we will take the path that runs closest to the water. ![image.png](https://files.peakd.com/file/peakd-hive/tengolotodo/EqL8DFbh6mfYgxHoFj4q6yzHG8KB5ooVqUFLxtXHNWxv9k8caUZVSS2i177gQCJPAwL.jpg) We are in Scotland and what more is Scottish than a thistle. They are bonnie and even weeds can be thought of as #alwaysaflower and yes I thought of you again Denise @dswigle You need to be careful as this part of the path can be quite overgrown with shrubs and weeds! ![image.png](https://files.peakd.com/file/peakd-hive/tengolotodo/EoK7FNXcm1Gr1NrZUAN91CS1dk6U2VmeEjAxaSUznocgnUjATmFAYF2482bYLaF1DWp.jpg) Once back on the path there is a ruined house, the thickness of the walls are in feet. Would be toasty in the winter. ![burtisland ruined house on beach.jpg](https://files.peakd.com/file/peakd-hive/tengolotodo/EqfFTpqCAHEWvccdHEqPXp9Qn9XA9kyFQax7SQKX96Tb4SpLskBriUsedSY4qAF3ycN.jpg) I don't know when it was abandoned and now is home to drinking parties as the inside is strewn with bottles and broken glass. ![image.png](https://files.peakd.com/file/peakd-hive/tengolotodo/EoMFCmCdH37ys1gQAY229ABhHdrgi6abFVGjwHEYUummyGBE7vANP8g8eMnsHeCD7fL.jpg) You would have got absolutely stunning views from your front sitting room! ![image.png](https://files.peakd.com/file/peakd-hive/tengolotodo/Eqqtx5iKVwGi8jdoUxnruzQkygcxFhgfQ9vc9Ht2ezasCNuBwQ7g8e92dVpcDkFYB8X.jpg) The sand gives way to rocks at this point and there is some great fishing to be had. The codling round here is absolutely delicious! ![burntisland fishing bay.jpg](https://files.peakd.com/file/peakd-hive/tengolotodo/EqonReRVgt8ejZjTwjJdZFxC37Nd1WW95e6ZnZMDXt1kniRuoQrUqj4hQJLmEHqLwiY.jpg) Walking round the headland we see the pallet factory and the port. ![image.png](https://files.peakd.com/file/peakd-hive/tengolotodo/EqqtzNm8WG4YHnPR8Qf5ugQbCh6kcZUz9mHFyjB5Vvp9hhdC7FnU2bQBJiuxRFQpYpp.jpg) You used to able to walk on the sea wall to the port, but they are blocking it off! And look the bridges again! ![image.png](https://files.peakd.com/file/peakd-hive/tengolotodo/EpXJaCCLy4Czi7Hgj9i9kRGbfP9wWJWz1MCxCU2CyUxyB99gHy735ww4Y6EJFg1zeDp.jpg) The first bridge is the Forth bridge for trains and often incorrecty called the Forth rail bridge, it is the Forth bridge end of story! ![image.png](https://files.peakd.com/file/peakd-hive/tengolotodo/EpLf5wsu8Y6D69b2nZ6hxAQcyBHKzaSKGrPSpaN6Ns9zPZC43kXBE9XUDbAnLWG9Dkv.jpg) ![image.png](https://files.peakd.com/file/peakd-hive/tengolotodo/EpNnNUpYQm25xpub6fhHExU1mxTeKdeTKiyEemT786A7irEGZ99zLLJK4ENqAm7AuBU.jpg) ![image.png](https://files.peakd.com/file/peakd-hive/tengolotodo/EpA1bf5k585kuzFTDgd3UJYrzzRUkT3tqf7wQJUQK8eXWmmsSjmni9PVY1LRRbd4ecR.jpg) There are various small boat tours that go and up down the islands in the Forth ![image.png](https://files.peakd.com/file/peakd-hive/tengolotodo/Ep1WNdfaumNBiKhYEconmyF5Ka8x6u6XnhuvedBMQy99Czurvjn7F9ZTjeXhPQV2sLN.jpg) Do you know the name of that fancy castle across the water? It looks awefully grand and stately! ![image.png](https://files.peakd.com/file/peakd-hive/tengolotodo/Ep5kC1R4mG49ELEXBx6SJbTJdKkAitQsd8BaWeFmz5EsK2JMbFhMU8H8EhNtmXKFaXr.jpg) When it gets windy these wee yachts can get up a fair pace, although this one was being used to fish from! ![image.png](https://files.peakd.com/file/peakd-hive/tengolotodo/EonjY2Uhwtct2i1UsvnaoQmcLcL69SxEktaMuqXmqYgWpBS4mSr5iw3huQqZ2SEeack.jpg) I shall leave with a picture of our capital city Edinburgh and Arthur's seat and Salisbury Craigs, I have climbed up them many a time in my youth! ![arthurs seat.jpg](https://files.peakd.com/file/peakd-hive/tengolotodo/EpXLuiGxahD78TxyFSSzMLozvVn5Tdz8dpDBwterhyaamHvXwyF1GYBMrAms6RXX7M2.jpg) **I hope that you have enjoyed our little stroll along the coastal path in Fife looking at the views across the Firth of Forth in Scotland and thank you for visiting.** #### **PS** Pop down the names of the bridges in the comment section for a wee surprise or three!
