Spring on its way in Beveridge Park in Fife Scotland

### Grab your walking shoes and some food and let's go Blue skies and the sun shining makes you forget the cold temperatures of winter. At night we are still in winter here on the East coast of Scotland as it dips below freezing, but during the days we are basking in pleasant days with no wind and glorious sunshine albeit still fluffing chilly temperatures!   I set off up the road, the park is only a five minute walk away. ### A car wash or a secret train wash! As I got to the car wash, a train approached! Could it be a secret train wash too?  ### Spring is here when I see these hyacinths Every year I walk past this border, and when these pretty bluey coloured hyacinths come alive then I know spring is in the air.  But do you know what sort they are? If you said grape .... then pat yourself on your back!   Do you have pelican or zebra pedestrian crossings with the flashing amber lights on a pole. They are cool and traffic must stop for you. Makes getting into the park easy.  ### Which way? I do like the way our park which is Beveridge Park have signposts directing you to various parts of the park.  We are actually adjacent to the main car park which is primarily why there is a notice board and map of the park on view.  Yes I know where I will go!  Through the rose garden that they have ruined, it used to have beautiful roses now that is no longer the case.   ### The boat pond This is a boat pond but the birds do their best to take it over.  ### Mr and Mrs Mallard I go up so often to the park to feed the birds that many of them see me and come steamrolling over to get fed! Mick and Marjorie Mallard are no exception. Can you tell which one is Mick and which one is Marjorie?   ### Spring cleaning of trees Every year they cut down allegedly unsafe trees that have been damaged in the winter storms or are diseased... I have my doubts and at this rate, it will just be grass that is left!  As I walked around today I saw loads of piles of cut limbs and trunks, they usually chip them.  The bigger trees are barricaded off until they are finished with the demolition/destruction.   ### I was spotted by Shona Swan As I had been walking round the side of the pond taking pictures of the cut down trees, Shona Swan had spied me and was coming rolling in for her food.  ### The calm before the storm!  ### Dog invasion Out of nowhere came two pups, as I had my music in my ears I never heard them but thankfully Shona did and made a retreat.  She was not happy  ### Possibly my best over swan picture! What do you think? A good picture? I shall make a feathered friends post with some pictures of Shona as I am sure @nelinoeva would like to see them!   It was time to move to other areas of the park.  First stop was our favourite place where we feed the squirrels. But they even had a go and chopping this one down too!  ### Tree lips The way the fungus grows it looks like a pair of oversized lips on the tree. I can just see her saying... ### "Leave me the fluff alone!"   The boat pond gets fed via run off from various feeds that end up in these wetlands.  They have been given a makeover with a new walkway being installed. The cynic in me thinks it is less maintenance now as they cut a way quite a bit of growth that provided cover for the coots and moorhens that live down at that end of the park.  Next up were the peace and memorial gardens.  I love this funky looking tree on the left and the gate do you see something about it? We are in Scotland and the cross is St Andrew's Cross and our flag. It looks cool but it is a locked gate!  They used to have a beautiful garden which was paid for and dedicated by the Galloway family.  However last year, they cut away shrubs and a beautiful Rowan tree that was there. More excuses they gave me as to why!  I had to get to the shop, which meant leaving the park by another entrance.  It did makes for some gorgeous shadow tree shots with their bare limbs! ### The refurbished gatehouse One good thing the council have done is renovate that gatehouse and now it is a preschool nursery.
