Nature gives you a daily example of how to live. Nicolae Iorga

Guys, first of all I would like to clarify what ARBORETUM means, you may not be familiar with this name.

Arboretum is a place where trees are planted or forest nurseries or gardens are established for experimental tree culture, in my opinion arboretum is a magical place where you can walk among trees hundreds of years old, among exotic plants sic the most important thing here is peace and relaxation of mind and body.

The arboretum is of great botanical, forestry and landscape importance.

The Arboretum or Dendrological Park of Simeria, as it is known, contains the oldest and most valuable collection of exotic and native plants in the country. The nature reserve covers an area of 70 hectares and the oldest documented record dates back to 1763.

Location and entry fee,

The reservation is located on Biscaria Street No.1, at the first traffic light intersection coming from Deva turn left and then go to the end of 1 December Street. There is a sign with the distance and the direction there.

A full admission ticket costs 4 lei/0,80euro for adults and 2 lei/0,40euro with discount, a modest amount for the beauties you can enjoy.

I had Simeria Dendrological Park (or Arboretum Simeria) on my list for a while, near Deva, so this weekend I took advantage of the good weather for an outdoor outing, very close to home (about 140km).

Being a weekend day the road was very clear, so it was a pleasure to drive there.

Very close to the park entrance is a place where you can park your car for free.

Simeria Park has a very large area of land, and the landscaped areas alternate with wild areas. We paid the entrance fee (4 lei for adults) and ventured into the ,,jungle" in front of us.

The first stop was in front of the Research and Forestry Institute, which as far as I could see is unfortunately left in disrepair, looking through the window of one of the doors I saw that inside were stored exotic plants that could not be left outside in winter, but it is surrounded by pots of plants, which give it a bohemian look, this is strictly my opinion.

The estate belonged to noble families.

The stone cottages scattered around the park (I suspect these were administrative or research spaces) fit beautifully into the landscape, and at this time of year they look great, I think in summer the cottages are hidden in the greenery. They look like fairytale cottages!

After taking a thousand pictures at the entrance of the park, we continued our walk along the well marked paths, through the ancient trees where everything was neat, clean, and especially as we saw many plaques with the names of different species of trees or plants.

From time to time, we would catch our breath on a bench in the shade of a tree.

I also really liked the small tables with wooden chairs hidden among the trees, the bridges over the water, all tastefully designed and harmoniously integrated into the landscape.

The central element of the park and which gives it a special charm is undoubtedly the lake which has a stunning bridge over it.

It had been more than three hours since I'd walked the park's paths and I could have started again, I loved the reserve so much. It was so nice to just sit and enjoy nature, to be taken in by the beauty of the simple things.

The park now has more than 2000 systematic units from different parts of the world - one of the richest collections in the country.

Brief summary of the park story,

The story begins somewhere in the 18th century, when the first chestnut and acacia trees were planted, then the land passed into the possession of noble Hungarian families for several generations and was constantly enriched with new varieties.

It is said to contain over 2,000 species of plants, each more amazing than the last, including a 260-year-old acacia. There is also Sequoia, the American Giant Tree, and Ginko- Biloba and many fascinating and majestic trees, a collection of inestimable value.

The park deserves all the attention of the local authorities, it is clean with plenty of signs with explanations or directions where to go out.

I really enjoyed getting lost there for a bit.

It's a huge job I guess, but it pays to brag about it in the city.

I was amazed by this park, I wish I had time to visit this place for a whole day in the summer too.

Even though spring isn't here yet, some flowers have already made their appearance.
