I searched for the frozen forest in the hills of western Romania
Hello travelers from all over the world
It seems that over western Romania passes these days a freezing air, yesterday during the day the temperature did not exceed the freezing limit, and last night the temperature dropped to -6 degrees (the temperature felt was -8 garde), so that everything around has turned into a kingdom of ice.
Today(15.01.2025) around noon it was -3 degrees and everything around us went into hibernation and the picture was absolutely stunning.
So I decided to go for a drive up to the higher hills of western Romania to see the winter atmosphere even better.
I said I'm not going too far from home but by the end of the day I did about 150 kilometers, if they were on the highway it would have been perfect but all of them were on very narrow roads and some of them were even snowy, but stay with me to see what amazing places I've been.
According to my calculations, I decided to go to some more remote villages near the Mures river, I thought that being close to the Mures river the temperature would be lower and I would find the forest frozen.
I forgot to tell you that the purpose of this trip is to find the frozen forest I love to walk through a forest over which snow and frost have taken hold.
After about 25 kilometers the first signs appeared with the forest a bit frozen but unfortunately that was all I passed through two villages Belotinț and Chelmac but unfortunately here the signs were not good and I did not find the frozen forest, instead I found some very old peasant houses (in an advanced state of degradation), it hurts my soul to see that such houses are destroyed and no one is interested in reconditioning them to restore them to the value they once had.
So I found on the map a bridge crossing the Mureș river (as if I didn't want to go back home on the same road) the idea was to cross the other side of the river, maybe here I'll be lucky.
No, this is not the road bridge, this is a train bridge.
This is the one lane bridge, hehe.
In a few minutes we were already at the bridge over the Mures river, a one-lane bridge, so I had to be careful when crossing.
I find it interesting to have a house right on the banks of the Mures River.
Ready, I'm on the other side of the Mures river but unfortunately surprise here too, no sign of frozen forest, instead I passed by a very interesting mansion (unfortunately I saw the ad in which the mansion was for sale) a little disappointed I redo my calculations and think of another area where I might have luck (from the third attempt).
After dozens of kilometers I enter the access road to the ruins of an ancient fortress, but today we don't go on the road to the fortress but we take a different road.
Even from the ascent the signs seem to be good and the frozen world starts to appear, I already feel different, as if I am a winner.
I made a few stops to photograph the frozen vegetation (I'm fascinated by this world) but I couldn't stay too long because I wanted to go higher to see if I could find snow.
A few kilometers further up surprise surprise, we also found snow, but unfortunately the road was not cleared of snow and my car could not climb the steep slopes, even though the car is equipped with winter tires on the asphalt was icy and the descent would have been even more difficult.
At the time, I was not properly equipped, hehe.
So I was glad that after so many kilometers I finally found the frozen forest, I was like a child who had received a lollipop.
My dears after a few hours of exploring the hills of western Romania we have reached the end of today's blog.
THE END!
