Malko Tarnovo is a small Bulgarian town in the Strandzha Mountain, located very close to the border between Bulgaria and Turkey.
My friends and I visited it recently and although I have been here before, I managed to discover new places, so interesting and so authentic, and I will show you many of them today.
First we walked around the city center to see the Big Vris - a spring from which water flows and which in the past played an important role in the creation and development of the city.
The Big Vris is a symbol of Malko Tarnovo and one of the legends about it tells that if a young man from a foreign village drinks water from the Big Vris, he will marry a girl from Malko Tarnovo.
The yard of the Stamat Ikonomov Ethnographic Museum was open and we could go in and take a closer look at the preserved old house and look at the other objects in the yard - barrels, a wooden cart, and clay jars.
Nearby is the Tourist Information Center, which stores information about the cultural and historical landmarks in the area.
Just a few meters from the Information Center, you can see an interesting sundial sculpture made in 2013 by Dobrin Vatev.
"Uspenie Bogorodichno" Church.
"Prosveta" Community Center, in front of which is the large square where important events are held.
The area is full of monuments and marble and wooden sculptures.
A building with a unique tree crawling along it.
The historical museum, whose exposition is located in four buildings.
The buildings are Strandja Revival houses, belonging to the merchant families Dyakovi and Ilievi from the end of the 19th century.
The house of the military leader Dimo Dyakov.
In front of the buildings, many marble columns with ancient Greek inscriptions from the village of Stoilovo can be seen.
Marble altar.
I took a close look at many pithos - large clay vessels.

I saw many more valuable household items that were used in the past.

The walk in Malko Tarnovo was not only interesting, but also very useful. I am sure that the next time I visit the city again, I will find even more new and useful information.
Thank you for stopping by!
