Ante todo, una disculpa porque no me dio el tiempo para publicar todos los tops de las décadas, pero es una disculpa pequeña porque a pesar de que no me dio el tiempo para hacer todos los posts en octubre, si tengo la convicción para terminarlo. Esta vez le toca a las películas estrenadas a partir del 2010, y la verdad es que es imposible dejarlo así porque la fama de las películas de terror creció de una manera absoluta en la última década, volviéndose este el género mainstream por excelencia, lo que quiere decir que la cantidad de películas de terror al año que se estrenaban era increíble comparándolo con las otras décadas. Claro, mayor cantidad no significa mayor calidad, pero hay ciertas películas que si valen la pena, entre esas están:

# El legado del diablo
Cuando la vi temblé, y fue la primera película de terror que recuerdo que me dio miedo ya en mi adolescencia, cuándo era consciente de lo que era una película y la realidad. Hereditary en general no necesita ni introducción ni recomendación, pero tampoco se le puede dejar de lado cuando hablamos de las mejores películas de terror de la historia, mucho menos si hablamos de las mejores películas de terror estrenadas después de 2010. Lo interesante de hereditary es que es toma vagamente elementos de la vida real para mostrarte un terror elevado que funciona por su tensión y mala vibra más que por sus jumps scares (que tiene a lo mucho tres), lo que la hace una película que sobre sale en el género.

when I saw it I shivered, and it was the first horror movie that I remember that scared me already in my teenage years, when I was aware of what a movie was and what reality was. Hereditary in general needs neither introduction nor recommendation, but neither can it be left out when we talk about the best horror movies ever, much less if we talk about the best horror movies released after 2010. The interesting thing about Hereditary is that it loosely takes elements from real life to show you a heightened horror that works for its tension and bad vibes more than for its jumps scares (which it has at most three), which makes it a film that is over the top in the genre.
# Huye
Jordan Peele es un genio y su primera película es una clara muestra de eso. Tal vez como película de terror no sea tan terrorífica como las que ya he mencionado en esta serie de post, pero como película es tan potente que sinceramente es sorprendente que sea la primera película del director. Con actuaciones increíbles y una historia que pasa de terror a fantasía a crítica al racismo, get out es una de las mejores películas de la década, más allá de ser una de las mejores películas de terror de su año. Con Get Out pasa algo interesante que no pasa en todas las películas de terror que tienen una o dos escenas fuertes, y es que tiene un mensaje y una historia que te hace recordarla por encima de sus sustos, lo que no es mucho de ver en el terror, pero por lo mismo lo agradezco siempre que lo recuerdo.

Jordan Peele is a genius and his first film is a clear sign of that. Maybe as a horror film it's not as terrifying as the ones I've already mentioned in this series of posts, but as a film it's so powerful that it's honestly surprising that it's the director's first film. With incredible performances and a story that moves from horror to fantasy to a critique of racism, get out is one of the best films of the decade, beyond being one of the best horror films of its year. With Get Out something interesting happens that doesn't happen in all horror movies that have one or two strong scenes, and that is that it has a message and a story that makes you remember it above its scares, which is not much to see in horror, but for the same reason I appreciate it whenever I remember it.
# El conjuro
si en el post pasado mencioné a James Wan aquí también tenía que mencionarlo, porque el conjuro fue la vuelta al terror clásico ochentero, pero en este siglo. El conjuro es el ejemplo perfecto de que el cliché es cliché y funciona porque si se hace bien, se siente muy bien. Una película llena de jumps scares y terror a la vieja escuela que además muestra escenas que tensan el terror hasta que el resorte ya no aguanta y se rompe, dejándolos escenas que estoy seguro que traumaron a unos cuantos niños cuándo vieron la película por primera vez.
# The conjuring
if in the last post I mentioned James Wan here I also had to mention him, because The Conjuring was the return to classic eighties horror, but in this century. The Conjuring is the perfect example that cliché is cliché and it works because if it's done right, it feels great. A movie full of jumps scares and old school horror that also shows scenes that strain the terror until the spring no longer holds and breaks, leaving you with scenes that I'm sure traumatized a few kids when they saw the movie for the first time.
